I can watch this on repeat all night.

Might be a bit harsh here, but Gravenberch’s inability to consistently play these passes is limiting Liverpool. When carrying isn’t an option (even though it was in this sequence), his passing range lets him down.

Loved this duel from both sides. •Trev stays low, on his toes + side-on (most of the time), reacting well to Doku, eventually blocking the effort. •Doku drives at Trev’s hips, forces him back, then pulls his signature twitch the moment Trev goes square.

Some will blame Szoboszlai, others will blame Kerkez (defending blindside runs is a weakness of his imo), but for me, it’s another case of midfielders prioritizing men over space and it’s why Szobo didn’t cover the passing lane.

Japan using diagonality &amp; associative play in the final 3rd. Active wide triangles to tilt the block &amp; outplay the 3v3s before finding the inside passes. However, players made the same runs &amp; didn’t arrive in space. Countermovements could be key.

Protects the ball with his arms and body, rides contact with great balance, and still finds the control to sell that subtle feint before shifting inside. That last chop… I have no words for that.
