It is the mission of the Fort Worth Police Department to serve every member of our community, and our day-to-day commitment to that mission will not change with the passage of Senate Bill 4. Although we will always follow the law, the primary responsibility for immigration enforcement and border protection should be left to our federal and state partners. In light of the vibrant growth of our city and the diversity of our communities, our department remains unwavering in its commitment to community policing and making Fort Worth the safest city in the country for all who call this community home.

*****GRAPHIC CONTENT ADVISORY****** Although this video may be extremely difficult to watch, it is an important example of the kinds of situations that our police officers may come across while performing their duties. Yesterday morning, October 23, 2025, two of our officers responded to a vehicular collision on I-30 between Eastchase Parkway and Cooks Lane that resulted in the female driver and an infant child being ejected from the vehicle. The infant was pinned beneath the overturned vehicle and was unresponsive. Sgt. R. Nichols (Badge #3590) and Officer E. Bounds (Badge #3521) with help from witnesses to the accident, were able to free the trapped infant. Sgt. Nichols immediately began to perform CPR on the unconscious infant, eventually waking the child and keeping her alive until Fort Worth Police arrived on scene. At this time, the woman and infant are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. We are beyond proud of the life saving actions performed by Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds for their bravery and quick response to this terrible scene. We are also grateful to the Fort Worth citizens who saw someone in danger and, without hesitation, assisted our officers. Report # 250079997

A routine call quickly turned into a lifesaving rescue! On Friday, June 12, 2026, around 12:05 p.m., Fort Worth Police officers responded to a report of a missing child near Dream Park. As officers searched the area, one officer spotted something yellow sticking up from the weeds near the water. When they moved closer, they discovered the child partially submerged along the shoreline. As officers approached, the child appeared disoriented and began moving farther into the water, at times going under the surface. Without hesitation, one of our officers entered the water and safely brought the child to shore before the situation could become even more dangerous. The child was evaluated by Fort Worth Fire Department as a precaution and is safe. This is a reminder that sometimes the difference between tragedy and relief is measured in seconds. Not a very WISE MAN to steal from the nativity scene in Sundance Square. On 12/17 around 2am, this suspect stole baby Jesus and was seen jumping in a tan or silver Chevy Tahoe, so he probably wasn't alone in this. If you recognize him, please call 817-392-3956. Report# 2200325146

Beat the Texas Heat! With temperatures climbing across North Texas, the Fort Worth Police Department encourages everyone to take extra precautions to protect yourself and those around you. Heat Safety Tips: - Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don’t feel thirsty. Stay indoors or in the shade during the hottest part of the day (typically 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). - Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen when outdoors. - Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly within minutes. - Make sure pets have access to fresh water and a cool, shaded area. - Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be vulnerable to extreme heat. - Know the warning signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, confusion, nausea, excessive sweating, or a rapid pulse. If someone is experiencing symptoms of heat stroke, call 911 immediately. Let’s work together to keep our community safe this summer. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another. Stay safe, Fort Worth

***Chief Garcia providing sound regarding a critical police incident – officer involved shooting that occurred this morning.*** The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a critical police incident-officer involved shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in East Fort Worth. On May 16, 2026, at approximately 4:15 a.m., FWPD East Division officers were on scene working a previous officer involved shooting near the 4200 block of Wiman Drive. While still investigating the shooting, a white SUV drove by multiple times at a high rate of speed. It appeared the driver was attempting to hit officers standing near their vehicles. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop. Officers pursued the SUV for approximately 15 minutes and eventually stopped the vehicle with a tactical vehicle intervention, also known as a PIT maneuver. Officers then approached the vehicle with their guns drawn and gave multiple verbal commands. The adult male subject did not comply with the officers’ orders and grabbed an officer’s handgun. At that point, multiple officers fired their guns and struck the suspect. Medical aid was provided by officers until the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived on scene. The male was pronounced deceased on scene. A Fort Worth Police Officer was injured during this incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On Saturday night, January 27, 2024 we had an incident where a suspected intoxicated driver fled from police and then struck a vehicle and two pedestrians, causing serious injuries. Our prayers go out to the victims who were injured, as well as the bystanders who saw it happen and were traumatized. Anytime innocent bystanders are injured because of someone’s reckless and dangerous actions, it hits home for all of us who just want to be able to enjoy a night out in our great city. Impaired driving is 100% preventable and we want to emphasize that there is no excuse for it. There are too many viable options available for people to get home safely, such as rideshare, taxis, and designating a non-drinking driver when out with a group. We know that there has been a lot of public interest in this incident, so we have provided updated information with as much detail as we are able to release, along with video of the incident. At around 10:06 p.m. on January 27, 2024, Fort Worth Police Department officers assigned to the West 7th Entertainment District saw a gray pickup truck exit a parking lot with no headlights at 1000 Foch St. and began driving the wrong way on Morton St., which is a one-way street. The truck then backed up, nearly striking a marked police unit, and drove up onto a curb. The officers could hear the passenger telling the driver to stop. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop based on the erratic driving by activating their overhead lights, but the driver took off, driving rapidly through the parking lot. At this point officers were concerned that the driver was possibly intoxicated due to his reckless driving and posed a threat to the public in a busy entertainment district. The officers observed the truck strike several curbs and nearly collide with other vehicles while driving eastbound on W. 7thSt. At one point the truck cut in front of oncoming traffic and jumped a curb into a bank parking lot then struck a pole which destroyed the front left wheel. Despite the nearly disabled vehicle, the suspect driver continued to flee from officers at a high rate of speed back toward the highly populated West 7th area. Due to the suspect’s erratic driving behavior, officers backed off and slowed down. The suspect drove around stopped traffic at the intersection of West 7th and University. The vehicle struck a pole, then a stopped car, and then struck two pedestrians, an adult male and an adult female, who were on the far side of the intersection. Pursuing officers were on scene within seconds and immediately rendered aid to the victims who were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. The suspected drunk driver who was identified as Andrew Guerra, 29 of Grand Prairie was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. Guerra refused to provide a blood sample. Therefore, officers obtained a search warrant for his blood alcohol content to be determined. Guerra is currently in the Tarrant County Jail on a $95,000 bond. He is charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Intoxication Assault with Vehicle Causing Seriously Bodily Injury, and Unlawful Restraint. His mugshot is available on our media portal. Guerra does not have any prior alcohol-related convictions. The passenger in Guerra’s truck has been cooperative with this investigation and is the victim in the Unlawful Restraint charge.
