The Canadian state is in the same position that post-war conservatives faced during the leftist cultural revolution of the 1960s. The popular, ideological, and political coherence of this era is now visibly eroding, most clearly reflected in the growing tensions between youth and the old. The image of the Brantford boomer giving two middle fingers to the younger generation captures it well. What remains is a stale, defensive regime clinging to a dying post-war liberal order. As Saturn and the Titans overthrew Uranus, so too will a new generation seek to overthrow the current order, just as Jupiter cast down the Titans and established a new regime in their place.
