Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare announced that prosecutors are seeking to hold the suspect accused in the fatal shooting near Westbury High School without bond. Teare explained that under Texas Article 11D, prosecutors have the legal ability to ask a judge to deny bond for severe felony offenses such as murder to ensure public safety while cases move through trial. “Children should feel safe at their schools, and that’s not the case right now,” Teare said, emphasizing the need for stricter accountability and common-sense gun safety measures.
