A man who opened fire on passing cars in northeast Houston shot three people before being shot himself by law enforcement officers, police say. The incident unfolded around 11 a.m. Friday on North Wayside Drive near the intersection of St. Louis Street near Trinity/Houston Gardens. Houston police say they got calls about a man shooting at vehicles. Police say responding officers located the man and gave him commands to drop his rifle. At some point, police say three HPD officers and a DPS trooper fired their weapons. The suspect was struck multiple times. He was taken to the hospital.

An ICE officer shot and killed a man during a targeted enforcement operation in Houston on Tuesday morning. According to federal officials, the shooting occurred just before 7 a.m. near Canal Street and Wayside Drive. Investigators stated that the suspect, identified as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, was a Mexican national in the country illegally. Officials allege Araujo attempted to evade arrest, rammed into an ICE vehicle, and tried to run over an officer before the agent opened fire. The FBI is leading the ongoing investigation.

Officials stated an officer ran a plate on a Black sedan-type vehicle in a parking lot after police received multiple calls on it with a Black male inside. Authorities said the officer called for backup as the vehicle came back stolen out of Fort Bend County. After multiple officers arrived, police said the Black male, who officials believe was the only person inside, was given multiple commands by officials to exit the vehicle to conduct an investigation. Authorities said the Black male, who was approximately 35-years-old, did not comply with those commands. Houston police stated a team of officers then began to approach the vehicle when the driver's side door opened up, the Black male inside made a movement as to show officers he had a potential weapon. That's when shots were fired by officers on the scene.
