That is why we have commenced the deployment of CCTV cameras across strategic locations in Agege. These cameras will support security operations, improve traffic management, monitor environmental compliance, and help us respond faster to incidents across our communities. The first phase is already live across key corridors, including Pen Cinema, Oke-Koto Junction, Iyana-Ipaja Road, Alfa Nla Road, and several other strategic locations, with more installations underway. Introducing the Agege Residents Card : A structured approach to better serve our people and deliver targeted impact. This initiative is designed to identify and register actual residents of Agege, ensuring that government interventions reach those they are meant for. With a clear classification system: 🔴 Red: Persons with disabilities 🟡 Yellow: Poor and vulnerable 🔵 Blue: General residents We are able to differentiate beneficiaries, improve planning, and deliver more effective economic empowerment programmes. The Residents Card will also provide access to welfare support, health services, drug relief funding, and other community benefits, while strengthening our data systems for better decision-making. Looking ahead, it will support initiatives like subsidised green transportation on key routes, ensuring inclusive and affordable mobility for our people. OBASA SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP U-16: THE FUTURE IS ON THE PITCH Day 4 of the Obasa Summer Championship U-16 2026 brought more excitement to Oniwaya High School and Ideal Primary School as young talents battled with skill, passion and determination. As the convener, I joined some members of my cabinet to watch all four matches across both centres and witness first-hand the energy and talent these young boys are bringing to the competition. This championship is more than football. It is about keeping our young people engaged, discovering talent and giving them a platform to dream bigger. I appreciate the Planning Committee, led by Dr. Moshood Ajibola, for the work being put into making this championship a success. I met with the Heads of Nursery and Primary Schools across Agege to review progress and strengthen our shared commitment to quality education. So far, we have renovated 17 schools, established 5 school libraries, and delivered essential learning tools, including 1,800 twin desks, 400 ECC furniture, 72 teacher furniture, and 92 marker boards. We are also in the process of procuring 75 computers to expand digital learning. Beyond infrastructure, we are investing in people and safety, with the recruitment of 50 primary school teachers and school support staff, deployment of security personnel, and ongoing plans to install CCTV systems in schools. We’ve also improved learning environments with 2 seven-aside pitches and connected 5 school compounds to the power grid. Our discussions focused on improving the quality of education, increasing school maintenance support, expanding facilities, and ensuring inclusive learning for special needs students alongside skill acquisition opportunities. We have commenced the clearing of the railway corridor in partnership with the Lagos State Government as part of our commitment to a cleaner Agege. It is important to note that the railway corridor falls under the responsibility of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), not the Local Government. However, in the interest of public health, safety, and environmental cleanliness, we are taking proactive steps to support the clean-up. This week alone, three large waste bins were evacuated from the corridor. Clearing such a space requires time, coordination, and significant logistics, and we appreciate the patience and cooperation of residents as work continues.
