Different card colors promote classism rather than community. Instead of a new card, why not integrate with LASRRA? More importantly, the Agege local govt needs to fix the infrastructure by the Agege train tracks, the flooding and the security risks from thugs and cultists are the real issues. We need rehabilitation programs, not just a colored card. This feels like a surface-level fix for deep rooted problems.

Hold your local government chair and councilors accountable, Una no gree. See workings! Agege is on the rise.

There are 774 LGAs in Nigeria If just 200 work like the Chairman of Agege,we will better understand the meaning of Governance But no,Tinubu is the problem... While the FG is not innocent, the LGAs have failed totally

...You mentioned this in your last Twitter space live stream and I am glad this is becoming a reality... You promised and you're delivering ...

For this to work...your registration officials must go from house to house and register people only with verified residence in a particular house...otherwise it will be a mess 😳

This is Agege

Work has officially commenced on the rehabilitation of roads and drainages within the corridor. Our approach is deliberate, fix the drainage first, then proceed with the road construction to ensure durability and long-term results. To allow for proper and timely execution, the road will be temporarily closed for one month. In the coming weeks, this corridor will also see tree planting and wall beautification, creating not just better infrastructure, but a cleaner and more visually appealing environment. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of residents as we carry out these improvements. #agege #avo #avoisworking #anewagegeisrising

Obasa! This is a laudable initiative but revise the classification system to appropriate legal terms, that is respectful and has a positive tone to it. This is 2026, there’s no such economic classification as poor. Red - Person’s with disabilities or people with other abilities. Yellow - Low income and senior citizens. Blue - General residents. Wish you and your administration continued success.

Thank you for this initiative. Please what does poor and vulnerable means in this context? Is there anywhere or site where all these were broken down and explained ? Really want to know

But why not leverage the existing LASRRA card? It will only take a collaboration with the State government and it will save you money, time and other resources.

Thank you The card is not just an ID card , it serves as an identity card , makes our residents have access to all of the welfare packages that we create for them , the cards can be used for payments. It stops residents of other local government to enjoy the discounted rates for our services . It can also be used for data collection and analysis It will serve as a community security data base . We have a transportation system designed to kick off in June and the card will also be used for payments. America , UK have benefit cards that citizens use to have access to certain things Lassra cards are not payments cards , they can’t share data with us. We have done so far in 7 months 17 schools blocks done so far . 12 roads , 5 rehabilitated , 5 major drainages 600 street lights Gardens getting created 10 health booths Skill acquisitions center’s Human capital development programs What’s all of this without data ?

This is great, and I honestly like the vision behind it. But wouldn’t it be more efficient to build on LASRRA and create an Agege-specific database from it? Cowry cards already exist for transport payments, and if the goal is to restrict benefits to Agege residents, the system can simply be designed to recognize only LASRRA ID numbers linked to Agege. For payments of goods, maybe a partnership with an indigenous company like Moniepoint would be better? They can open bank accounts and distribute debit cards to residents and it would help bring more people like market women, bus drivers, etc. into the banking system, and reduce their heavy reliance on cash. Im looking at it from the angle of duplication and long-term scalability because we know that Lagos State has already invested a lot over the years, in harmonizing residents’ data, and if each LGA starts building its own parallel system, we might just end up with fragmentation instead of a unified structure. Also, for transparency, Mr Chairman, it would be great for residents to know the cost of producing these cards and which company will be handling the database 🙏🏾🙏🏾

@ganiyuobasa2025 They can't share data with them He clearly answered you

@ganiyuobasa2025 Why? 😅

@ganiyuobasa2025 Just like it’s difficult for you to use your ATM card to vote, the problem is Nigeria doesn’t have a valid central data system where you can access necessary information. Buy a car and you’ll see the nonsense documentation, same with buying a house, etc.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s the same thing. Lagos State already has a working database, that’s exactly what LASRRA is built on. So instead of starting from scratch, Agege can simply collaborate with the state and pull the data of residents who already fall within the LGA. It’s really not that complicated. If anything, they could just use existing LASRRA records or cards and build on that, rather than creating a whole new system. It’s like when you apply for an international passport, you simply put your NIN in the system and it recognizes it. The idea itself is not bad, but at this point it feels unnecessary and it’s likely gonna be very expensive. We haven’t heard clearly how much this project will cost. It just makes more sense to leverage what already exists and redirect those funds toward more urgent needs in the community.

Nice initiative, i would have loved you maintain yellow as Vulnerable category. Your analytics can tell you who is poor through the individual and family income line. Vulnerable category includes underage, old folks. It’s not a big deal, but poverty shouldn’t have an identity

You are a hard-working chairman. To raise funds for Agege, you can create a comprehensive swimming lesson program (not free). This will engage the youth, and schools can also book swimming lessons. We should always champion progress.

This is the most stupid thing I’ve seen. And it’s sad to see you thought about this and believed this is the best way to go about delivering impact to your constituents. Nobody advised you that this is terrible?

Garbage in, Emeka, garbage out👍🏼

This Is what good governance looks like 👍 keep up the good work AGEGE LGA

Poor and vulnerable? A society that wants growth would never put a class to that. Yes there will always be poor folks among us but the dream is to rise above it. Your policies should project means of elevation Disability . Elder residents / 65 and above . General residents .

How do you rise above the “Poor and Vulnerable” state without accurate data?

Data is a tool, not a brand. You can use income thresholds to track progress in your database without tattooing "Poor" on a citizen's ID. When you group people as "vulnerable," you've justified their state instead of ending it. Use data to build ladders (income-based policies),

….not boxes (labels). A working society aims for independence, not a permanent class of dependence.

Honorable Chairman sir, Please may I ask, what problem are trying to solve with this Residents' Card that LASSRA card isn't? Or let's assume it's a must can't we leverage on LASSRA? I look forward to your response Thank you!

@OlamiEedris Lagos Lagos Lagos Lagos Lagos ki lon happen gan gan ?

This is a practical way to siphon/waste public funds again. What’s the aim and objectives? Are there expectations that the LASSRA card can’t meet at tfw moment? Why not work with the relevant state agencies to incorporate these expectations.

And this is what we meant by let the young rule

This is commendable, but I’m not convinced we need another card or form of identification. We already have the NIN and the Lagos Resident Card, and either of these can be leveraged to better serve the people of Agege. Doing so would also promote data harmonization. Just my thoughts.

@ganiyuobasa2025, if you have any initiative on tech or students to learn one at agege the company I'm running @SwiftRole could love to partner with you, chief

I won’t lie… I like the structure behind this. It feels intentional, like someone actually sat down and thought about how to organise support properly. But for something like this to truly work, it has to go beyond the idea itself. For me, it starts with getting the data right. Not just registering people, but verifying them properly. If the foundation is weak, everything built on it becomes questionable. Then that classification… red, yellow, blue… it’s smart, but also delicate. I think there has to be a clear, transparent method behind it. Not assumptions, not sentiments. Something measurable, something people can trust, otherwise it can easily be misunderstood or even abused. Also, the system has to be alive, not static. A proper digital database that can be updated as people’s situations change. Life isn’t fixed, so the system shouldn’t be either. And maybe the most important thing… the card must actually work. It should connect directly to health services, welfare support, transport benefits. If people carry it and nothing changes for them, then the whole purpose starts to fade. Finally, there has to be accountability. Someone should always be able to answer simple questions… who is benefiting, how often, and what impact is being seen. I think if these things are taken seriously, this could genuinely make a difference. But if not… it risks becoming just another good idea that didn’t go far enough.

So the people that lives there and paid tax that are not from agege, is not supposed to benefit from the government

The core word is “Residents”

Well understandable, I wish you the best

This is a brilliant initiative

Really? Please how is this beneficial to the residents gan! gan!? Are there tax rebates for the holders?

Fix the roads, provide viable public schools, and primary health care. Provide relevant departments within the Local Government to provide local services to the people. You do not need discriminatory identity cards which you are only doing for political reasons.

What nonsense is Agege card NIN Bvn Lassra Driver license International passport Now Agege card???

@osamejiosaeleye This is an extremely wrong idea, full of classism, Lagos state already have LASRA that captures data of every residents in Lagos, so of what economic benefit is this Resident card? I just hope people won’t be asked to pay for it

Food is ready. 😂

@bizzleosikoya Another card, please use the resource for something better. LASRRA has the data already, just get access it or promote NIN or LASRRA to your residents.

@TYFLagos There will be a tag for poor people?? 👀

I have seen, quite a lot of objections in regard to the Chairman's initiative. Some have been very constructive in their contributions while some other persons were clearly antagonistic in their comment. How come Lagos have LASRRA even when we all have NIN as a nation?

You and your Papa no serious. Lol

Other local govts should come and learn work from you. If all local govt chairmen are like this, omo, Tinubu's work will be so easy
