This morning we heard that our friend Dame Esther Rantzen, who sadly has Stage 4 lung cancer, is considering the option of ending her own life, when the time comes, at Dignitas, in Switzerland. Her daughter explains how difficult it was to see her father suffer in his last days and how she wants her mother to have a ‘good death’ She said: ‘we have midwives to help us at the beginning of life, but we don’t have a midwife for the end of life’. 🧡

We loved this little video with Andrew Garfield and Elmo. Although it can be sad, it’s also good to think of those who have died, and the special memories we have, as it can help us feel comforted, knowing how much we loved them. This is the moment the portrait was revealed last night of Jules Lewis RGN MSc 💙🦢 , our Ambassador, BBC Arts #extraordinaryportraits Bill Bailey Jules took her family with her, and also Hannah, the daughter of Jules’ best friend who sadly died in 2019. It was an incredibly emotional moment seeing the daffodils in the painting, as these were Hannah’s mum’s favourite flower. Jules said; ‘when you lose someone you love you don’t think you are going to ever smile or laugh again, but you do. She wanted to show there is #hope, and with kindness and compassion, there is a way forward. We thank Jules and all nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and their families. #onechance 🧡☂️#NHS75

This week @halfpennyjill discussed the impact of her grief, after the death of her father when she was 4 years old, and then many years later, she sadly lost her partner in similar circumstances. Jill talks about her need to ‘feel all the things she never really dealt with when she was younger’ She said; ‘If I put it away in a little box, I know it would get much bigger, and scarier’

We cannot tell you how proud we are to have Jules Lewis RGN MSc 💙🦢 as our friend and Ambassador. Tonight’s BBC One episode was certainly #extraordinary & highlighted every aspect of Jule’s kindness & natural compassion for others. There are few people we know who possess the unique qualities that Jules does, & being called a ‘volcano of light’ really summed them up for us tonight!
