THE ATF DOESN’T WANT YOUR SUPPRESSOR PAPERWORK ANYMORE. SO WHY DOES YOUR STATE? 14 states still tie your suppressor to it. The ATF quit enforcing registration for suppressors and short-barreled rifles nationwide on Oct. 9, but in these states, state law only allows a suppressor if it’s registered under the NFA. Skip the Form 4 and you can still land in legal trouble at home. Mississippi AG Lynn Fitch fixed it for suppressors in three days. Every AG in those 14 states can do the same. Sen. Josh Hawley nails the exact concern with these cameras. They are going up outside gun ranges and gun stores. You can guess why gun owners are nervous. These cameras log when you got there, how long you stayed, whose truck was parked next to yours, and what your bumper stickers say about your politics. All of it dumped into a database that keeps growing. A registry, by any other name.
