While British Columbians are already pushed to the brink by an unyielding affordability crisis, David Eby’s NDP is secretly plotting its next cash grab from everyday commuters. In quiet meetings, the Ministry of Finance, TransLink, and the Mayors’ Council are crafting a new vehicle levy and laying the groundwork for road pricing, deliberately hiding the details until after they try to push through a snap election. This NDP government expects hard-working drivers to foot the bill for fiscal mismanagement while keeping the public completely in the dark. Such secrecy demonstrates a total disregard for the public, treating family budgets as a blank check for government spending. Families across the province are already struggling to afford groceries, rent, and the basic cost of simply getting to work. The absolute last thing British Columbians need is another government raid on household finances, whether through a new vehicle fee or a charge on the daily commute, just for driving kids to school. If the NDP is actively drawing up these plans, they need to stop hiding the details and come clean with the public immediately. British Columbians deserve absolute transparency, not a government that keeps the price tag a secret until the voting is over. Taxpayers have a right to know the truth: what exactly is this new vehicle levy, and how much will it cost families across British Columbia? Voters will not be fooled by a government that hides the price tag today only to stick drivers with the bill tomorrow.

Hours before the Tariff deadline came, my friend and constituent Trevor Borland went on CBC to speak about the state of Canada’s steel industry. Trevor is the president and owner of Pacific Bolt Manufacturing, the largest bolt manufacturer in Western Canada. Based right here in our community, Pacific Bolt proudly uses domestic steel, supports Canadian manufacturers and employs skilled Canadian workers. For the past six months, his company has been paying $120,000 EVERY MONTH in tariffs. That is $720,000 taken away from a Canadian manufacturer. Money that could have gone toward hiring workers, increasing wages, purchasing equipment and expanding production right here in British Columbia. Trevor wanted to be a Team Canada guy. He was reluctant to criticize the government and remained hopeful that a deal could be reached. That is what the Liberals promised. That is what Trevor, his employees and manufacturers across Canada were counting on. Hours later, the talks fell apart. The people paying the price will not be sitting in government offices. They will be on factory floors and around kitchen tables in communities like mine. These tariffs threaten good-paying jobs, family incomes and the local businesses that depend on companies like Pacific Bolt. Workers still have mortgages, grocery bills and children to provide for while their employers are forced to absorb staggering costs month after month. Trevor and his workers did their part. They built a successful Canadian company, bought Canadian steel and supported Canadian jobs. They should not be left carrying the cost of another failed Liberal promise. British Columbia’s manufacturers and workers WILL NOT be treated as collateral damage! The Conservative Party of BC has their backs, and we will make sure their voices are heard.

Today, I’m launching my campaign to lead the Conservative Party of BC. I’m running because everyday, hardworking BC families don’t need more lectures from the same group of political elites. Working people need someone real who will roll up their sleeves and fight for them. Someone who will stand with everyday British Columbians, not just big business and insiders. I didn’t inherit a movement. I helped build this party from nothing because I believe in grassroots conservative principles: hard work, responsibility, the rule of law, safe communities, and opportunity earned. I may not have a fancy MBA or a PhD, but I know how to balance a family budget. I’ve made payroll. I know what real responsibility feels like. Right now, too many British Columbians, families like mine, are wondering if they still have a future here. Mills and blue-collar businesses are closing. Investment is leaving. Forestry, natural resources, oil and gas, major infrastructure and province-building projects all depend on one thing: certainty. That is the concern I keep hearing from the people trying to invest, build and create jobs in British Columbia. The Legislature returns October 5. The government has the opportunity to bring forward legislation, put DRIPA before the House and have that debate in public. If it does not, this becomes a 93-riding ground game. Every riding matters. Every threshold has to be met. There are no shortcuts, and there are no easy wins. Our resource industries helped build this province and helped my own family build a good life here. Future generations deserve that same opportunity. The bar is high. That’s the point.

This government is selling out BC workers. The Liberals in Ottawa handed BC Ferries a one billion dollar taxpayer backed loan — and an NDP-appointed board chaired by former NDP MLA Joy MacPhail sent the work to China. A leaked 2023 report proves these ferries could have been built right here in BC—thousands of good paying union jobs, billions in economic growth, and pride in Canadian craftsmanship. But instead of building ships in our yards, they’re building up China’s military industrial complex with our money—while union workers watch those jobs get sent overseas. This isn’t progress. Canadian shipyards didn’t bid on the ferry contract because they’re punished by the industrial carbon tax. Meanwhile, Chinese state-owned yards—no tax, no rules, no accountability. They don’t pay fair wages. They use slave labour—Uyghur Muslims in forced camps. In Canada, we pay good wages because we believe in dignity, human rights, and building a future for our families. But this NDP government led by David Eby chose dictatorship over democracy. No Canadian steel. No Canadian jobs. This latest court ruling should terrify every single property owner in British Columbia. Under David Eby’s watch, the NDP government has stood by while decades-old claims are used to overturn existing private land rights—1,800 acres gone overnight, with fee simple titles declared “defective.” And instead of defending the property rights of British Columbians, Eby’s government is already talking about “negotiating.” This ruling should be appealed immediately. If it’s allowed to stand, what’s next? Your family’s home? Your farm? Your business? No property in B.C. is safe when the Premier refuses to fight for it. We can acknowledge the importance of reconciliation without handing over people’s legally purchased land and undermining the very concept of ownership. British Columbians need certainty, not a government that sells them out.

I’m PRO-British Columbia, and I believe THE PEOPLE should have the final say on major changes to how their province is governed. 86% of British Columbians agree: major changes to how our province is governed should require the consent of THE PEOPLE. That should not be controversial. The NDP had no mandate to create conditions that put the certainty of private property rights into question or fundamentally change who makes decisions over B.C.’s land and resources without asking British Columbians first. That is exactly why B.C. has the Recall and Initiative Act. It gives British Columbians the power to take an issue directly to the people when government refuses to listen. I am using that democratic power to repeal DRIPA. No mandate. No public consent. And no government should get to fundamentally rewrite how this province is governed and simply tell British Columbians to accept it. British Columbia belongs to its PEOPLE. Government answers to its PEOPLE. And the PEOPLE have every right to decide its future.

Yesterday, Aaron Gunn said something a lot of Canadians are thinking but too many politicians are afraid to say out loud. If governments claim to believe in private property rights, they should stop opening every public meeting by declaring the land Canadians live on isn’t really theirs. That’s the conversation people across this province are having right now. Today I was in the legislature because this isn’t theoretical anymore. Tara Armstrong introduced a simple bill with one basic principle: protect fee-simple private property rights in British Columbia. If you legally bought your home, your farm, or your land, the government should defend your ownership. And the government voted against it. Think about that. People spend their entire lives working to buy a home. They follow the rules. They pay their property taxes. Yet this government refused to stand up and say clearly that British Columbians have the right to own what they’ve worked for. Our land title system was built on a promise: if you own property, you actually own it. That promise matters to every homeowner, every family, and every person trying to build a future in this province. I’m running for leader because I’m not willing to sit back while that promise gets chipped away. Aaron raised the alarm yesterday. Today I’m telling you exactly where I stand. I will fight to defend the right of British Columbians to own their homes and their land. I’m at BC Ferries Tsawwassen Terminal. Both Jordan Armstrong and @jungangela have been here and I wanted to see what’s going on first hand. It’s absolute mayhem. It’s easy for CEO Jimenez to say he understands the concerns raised by British Columbians about BC Ferries in an article. He and the BC Ferry Board should be down here with the PEOPLE who are SUFFERING FROM HIS INCOMPETENCE.
