Fastest way to fall asleep if you’re stuck in fight-or-flight. The Wim Hof breathing exercises go deep into the hormonal system, the endocrine system. When doing these exercises, we’ve seen that the adrenaline spikes and then comes back down. This controlled spike helps reset your body and your hormonal balance. Then, the melatonin can come in and do its magic. You’ve cleansed the chemistry of the cortisol that was keeping you awake. Just a few rounds to find your peace and go to sleep. Ready to reset? Try 5 rounds of Wim Hof guided breathing here:

25 years ago I said the autonomic nervous system (that controls the immune system) will no longer be autonomic. Many people mocked me and said I was crazy. Now we know. We showed at Radboud that after just four days of training in the mountains and 6 days of solo practice at home, the autonomic nervous system could not only be influenced, but accessed deeply and activated. We did that through the Wim Hof Method breathing techniques, through breath retention. The breathing techniques really go as deep as the autonomic nervous system, and the innate immune system. That’s what brings them under control. Instead of being alienated and disconnected from this control, and having a lot of trouble with inflammation and stress in our lives, we now have control over our adrenaline and cortisol. Looking back at this conversation with Jay Shetty. It’s a reminder of a truth I’ve been sharing for decades.

There are many ways to enter cold water... mostly slowly. Not me though.

67 years young and half a century of doing what I love. Celebrating life everyday! ❤️ To me, making people feel better is the real purpose in my life. There is nothing that fills me up more than the betterment of any human. People’s stories are amazing. And how can I pay them back? By keeping on, by staying on course. I’m a man on a mission, and I will not fail. Until I die, I will show all the people in the world that we were born to be not only wild, but to be happy, strong, and healthy. And because I want you to feel this power too, I’ve put together a special gift to give you the tools to start your own journey today and maintain a steady practice for years to come. 🎁

This is how it started. A question many people didn’t think was worth asking: Can we influence our autonomic nervous system and innate immune system? So we put the Wim Hof Method under scientific scrutiny. In 2012, I practiced the method while being injected with an endotoxin. The outcome was clear: fewer flu-like symptoms and lower inflammation than anyone expected. Many said “that’s just the Iceman”... A few years later, we repeated the same experiment with new participants. And they got the same results. Not just me. Anyone can do it. These studies may have been small steps, but they uncovered something meaningful. Human physiology is far more capable than we thought. The results speak for themselves: real, measurable, repeatable. But the best proof is in your own experience. You can learn the Wim Hof Method anytime, anywhere with our most comprehensive video course. Get 50% OFF now:

I rise in the morning, and I do my breathing. I don’t do it because it’s good for me, which it is, but because it feels good. That’s why I want to do it. And then, shortly after, I take my cold shower, or an ice bath if I can. I love it, and I never skip a day, even when I am on the road. Tune out distractions. Turn off your television and leave your phone in another room when you begin the breathing exercises each morning. Give yourself enough time that time doesn’t factor into your thoughts at all. These twenty to twenty-five minutes a day require your complete attention. The mind is a neurological muscle that is able to influence your body’s molecular systems and aid its absorption of oxygen, which creates the energy you want. And if you want this muscle to function optimally, you’ve got to surrender unconditionally to the experience. You have to really go for it. You have to have the third pillar: confidence, mindset.

Who remembers this? More than 10 years ago, before ice baths were in every gym, I sat down with Joe Rogan for Episode #712 of his podcast. The message hasn’t changed since then. What I can do, ANYBODY can do. If you’re here, practicing, breathing, stepping into the cold — you’re the living proof. Grateful to Joe and the team for having me on and letting this message reach the world. We are just getting started.

Start your day with a cold shower, even during winter. ❄️ I know it’s going to be cold in the morning and that those first few seconds in the cold water are going to be unpleasant because my ego tells me so. But my inner voice tells me to bloody get into that cold water because it is calling me to embrace every bit of my being. The control you will gain won’t be limited to your body’s response to the cold. It can be applied to stress in any form, be it heat, emotion, work, frustration with the traffic, relationships, whatever. Because the cold is merciless but righteous, we can learn from it. Need a little motivation in the cold? Try the Guided Cold Shower or the other handy tools in the Wim Hof app: #wimhofmethod #coldshower #breathe #energyboost #stressresilience

We are born with pure intelligence. Watch a baby learning to walk. It falls. It gets up. It falls again. It gets up again and again. There is no shame. No worry about failure. No voice in its head saying it's not good enough or it should give up. A child navigates the world with a neurology centered around exploration, not reason. Every moment is new. Every experience is fresh. The force of growth and curiosity drives everything. Pure determination. Pure intelligence. Growth. We need to wake up each day eager to grow to the light, just like a healthy tree. We need to approach the world with the child's neurology - strong, curious, and unafraid of falling. But we're adults now. We can't simply return to childhood. Patterns are established. Neural pathways are worn deep from years of repetition. So what do we do? We recognize that consciousness is neurology. That perception is what we see. That we can change both. Be pure intelligence. The way back to this intelligence is through the body. Stand outside in the cold. Barefoot on the earth. Let the winter air prickle your skin. Stay there until your mind goes quiet and only sensation remains. The cold forces you into the present moment. The stress cannot maintain its loops when your body is demanding your full attention. Negative patterns dissolve in the face of immediate physical reality. This is not punishment. This is liberation. In the cold, you remember what the child knew. That you are alive and it is exciting. That each moment is fresh. That growth is not something you achieve but something you allow. Your neurology changes in the cold. New pathways open and old patterns lose their grip. The expansive consciousness of childhood becomes accessible again. Your beautiful soul is eternal. It should be constantly in bliss. The bliss of new neurology, new pathways, expanding consciousness, and expanding perception. This is your birthright. This is what you are here for. Growth, expansion, liberation. The cold will show you the way back. -Wim Hof

Every morning you have a choice. You can wake up carrying your bags from yesterday. Dragging all the days before it. Already tired from the weight of what you know, what you've done, what you have to do. Or you can wake up new. I choose new. I wake up and start every day as if it is my first day. Not a single past failure clouds my mind. Musings and worries of the future are completely absent. This is not denial. This is not forgetting. This is creating space. Space to paint a new canvas with the originality of the moment. Without this space, life becomes repetitive. The same thoughts loop. The same feelings return. The same patterns play out again and again. You become a machine running old programs. Conformity thrives on this repetition. But freshness breaks the pattern. When you approach each day as your first day, you're not bound by who you were yesterday or limited by what failed last week. You're not trapped in the story you've been telling yourself. You are simply here. Now. Relaxed. Show up as you are. Raw and real and present. Nature will meet you there. The cold will meet you there. Your true self will meet you there. This is celebration. Not of achievement or success or arriving somewhere but a celebration of life itself. Of being here and feeling everything. Start with a deep breath. Right now. -Wim Hof

Embrace the cold to reduce inflammation 💪🧊❤️ Always follow your feeling. If you feel your energy levels very low, try doing the breathing exercise before the ice bath 🌬 ⚠️ Remember to always do the breathing while sitting or lying down in a safe place, not in or near water.

Let's take 4 deep breaths. Fully in. Letting go. Feel your heartbeat. Breathing deeply. Feel it everywhere. Flowing through your body. Visualize that with every inhale the power of the heart spreads all around you. And you are able to connect the breath with the heart. Flowing love. All over you. Remember your soul, to be here. Fully present. Keep breathing consciously. Feel and be aware of your body. Take a moment to appreciate all that is within you. ❤️ Keep connecting with your heart with this meditation, and many others inside the Wim Hof app. Do you have a favorite meditation that you find yourself coming back to again and again? #meditation #consciousbreathing #heartbeat #love #wimhofmethod

We have identified the key components of the autonomous processes in the brain—those outside of our will—and have learned to access them. Those processes are within our will, and with that, our perspective on the human capacity to deal with mood regulation, depression, trauma, and fear must change in accordance. This is the way nature meant for us to be. #depression #trauma #nature #coldexposure #breathe

I never had a teacher, and I never had lessons, other than hard Nature itself. To me the cold is like God, you could say that. I think of the cold as a noble force. It's just helping me, training me. It's bringing me back to my Inner nature the way it is meant to be. And this way I do not only endure the cold, I love the cold. Shared this more than 10 years ago on Joe Rogan podcast (ep. 712) — and it still holds to this day.
