Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” went out with a bang last night in the historic Ed Sullivan Theater after a nearly 33 year run beginning in August of ‘93 with David Letterman. As we celebrate the immense legacy of both Colbert and “The Late Show”, we wanted to share a clip from our friend John Krasinski‘s appearance on May 8th discussing his collaboration with ILM on the “A Quiet Place” franchise. We’re honored to hold a place in the final episodes of this American institution — and a place in your creative upbringing, John!

Did you know that ILM built motion-controlled miniatures for #SkeletonCrew? One of the miniatures—complete with servo-operated engines and working lights—was the Onyx Cinder, built by John Goodson and Supervised by John Knoll and our ILM Miniature Unit. Not only was it used for in-camera finals, but it also informed our digital model, providing a seamless blend between the two. We have some excited stories on the way covering this work in-depth, but in the meantime, enjoy a sneak peek into this process, and then see ILM’s work in action in the first three episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, streaming now on Disney+!
