Deeply shocking & absurd that J&K Police has filed an FIR knowing well that religious sentiments were deliberately hurt at Hazratbal Dargah yesterday. Waqf comprises entirely of Muslims yet they showed utter disdain & insensitivity. They are the ones who should be booked immediately.

We have been placed under house arrest on the eve of Martyrs Day for reasons best know to JK Police. This is the normalcy they claim to have established in Kashmir? Make no mistake the local government too is hand in glove using police in Sidhra to demolish homes & place opponents in detention when convenient.

Endless debates, staged press conferences by commerce members & unwarranted rebukes for a six year old’s innocuous yet acerbic comment but radio silence on a Congress MLA heckled by the ruling party’s goons. National Conference since time immemorial has choked & muzzled every form of opposition in Kashmir. Why are they being allowed to behave like hooligans & thugs?

A mafia operating in ecologically fragile Pahalgam allowing wanton illegal construction of hotels encroaching upon flood channels or Forest land is ill thought & detrimental to Kashmir’s environment already reeling from global warming. Detaining PDPs ex MLA Wachi Aijaz Mir sahab to scuttle a peaceful sit in by him & hundreds of Kashmiri apple farmers demanding a comprehensive insurance crop scheme shows high handedness & intolerance. Horticulture the backbone of J&Ks economy is reeling under losses worth hundreds of crores because of the current government’s apathy & refusal to address these issues. Our farmers deserve a secure dignified livelihood.

Unfortunately much like last year Kashmiri apple growers are suffering immense catastrophic losses again because Qazigund highway is closed yet again for ‘maintenance’ Why is it that road repairs happen only during harvest season? Horticulture provides a dignified livelihood to lakhs of Kashmiris. Request Nitin Gadkari to ensure road work is expedited.

Every year the hard work of countless Kashmiri apple growers goes down the drain simply because the Qazigund Highway is blocked for weeks on end. They watch tonnes of apple rot & perish. This breaks their backs also because of hefty loans that they cannot repay. This economic apartheid is simply unacceptable. Nitin Gadkari ji Wouldn’t you agree this is grave injustice to them? Request you to introduce a green corridor. Office of Chief Minister, J&K please start freight trains & other measures to introduce they don’t suffer.

5th August 2019 marks a black day for the people of J&K. It’s on this day we were caged like animals while a Government drunk on power stripped our state of it’s special status, flag, residuary powers & constitution. Our peaceful fight for it will continue till the day we get every bit of it back.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar owes an apology to the young Muslim woman for pulling down her naqaab. Power doesn’t give you the right to humiliate us Muslims. If old age is affecting your ability to function & conduct yourself in a decent manner please step down. Because even a Chief Minister must abide by propriety.

A week ago when I yelled ‘Zoon ho’ in Bijbehara I had no clue it would become this viral. For the initiated, Zeun is victory in Kashmiri while as Zoon means the moon. I’m glad the slogan charged up PDP workers who insist I yell it at least a dozen times while campaigning. I am sick of it though🫣

Knowing that tomorrow we’d be prevented from moving out, managed to pay tributes to our martyrs who laid down their lives on 13th July 1931 for democracy. Their memory is being wilfully erased yet their voices echo in every Kashmiri’s heart that refuses to bow & dares to hope.

Over sharing attracts nazar. There is barakah in privacy. In Kashmir it’s lately become normal to record intimate moments of marriage ceremonies & put it out on social media. From capturing a groom putting his bride on the loudspeaker announcing the departure of his baraat to a mother gifting her son the Quran while he offers namaz - every memory not meant to be shared is instead recorded for social media consumption. There was a time when shadis were rooted in simplicity. Now it’s gradually being reduced to a Tamasha that violates that privacy of your own spouse, their families & your deepest private moments. Please think twice - Privacy is power. Social media clicks and viral videos help event managers to gain traction but take away your privacy. These memories remain on Instagram, Facebook & WhatsApp forever for posterity. There is barakah in privacy. Always best to protect relationships that are closest to you. Especially as you embark on a new journey with a person who you will raise a family & spend the rest of your life with.

Revenue Department is trying to snatch 2000 canals of fertile agricultural land in Dangerpora Pulwama from poor families who’ve cultivated paddy here since centuries. Like Sidhra the JK Government here too is misusing police to implement these illegal diktats by threatening to slap PSA against protesters. A massive dumping site has been created next to Eidgah in Hatigam, Bijbehara. Tonnes of garbage strewn all over isn’t just a health hazard but also much of this trash is entering the fresh water stream right below.
