Thursday Night Las Vegas Strip Vegas isn’t dead. Vegas reset. Those $13 candy bars and $26 bottles of water weren’t a mistake — they were a signal. After COVID, the Strip started attracting anyone looking for a cheap vacation. It got flooded with the “cruise-ship crowd” — people complaining about drink prices, gift shop prices, everything. So Vegas reset the market. Over the last few years the Strip basically cleared out the Griswolds — the $19 room, buffet coupon, candy-bar complainers. Now the model is different: Fewer tourists. Higher spenders. The guests coming now aren’t looking for the cheapest vacation — they’re here to spend and play. And if you drive the Strip tonight, it definitely doesn’t look dead.

Sure… Vegas is “dead.” Meanwhile, inside the Bellagio Conservatory — packed every day. Here’s the reality people don’t want to admit: Vegas didn’t die… it filtered. Post-Covid, they let anyone in just to survive. Cheap rooms, chaos, TikTok fights, people crying about $20 water in the desert. Now? That era’s over. Prices went up. Vibe cleaned up. And the people who can actually afford to be here showed back up. If you think Vegas is dead… you’re probably just not the target customer anymore. I haven’t been inside the Rio Hotel, All-Suite Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in a while — and honestly, if you haven’t been here lately, you might not recognize it. The place has been seriously refreshed. One of the first things that hit me was keno. I completely forgot keno was still a thing, and seeing it again gave me this instant old-school Vegas flashback. It used to be everywhere, and walking through the Rio brought back that nostalgia. But this isn’t just old Vegas. They’ve revamped the colors, opened up the space, replaced the old buffet with a massive updated food hall, added a new check-in area, new restaurants, walk-up spots, new bars, and a completely redesigned circle bar right in the main casino area as you come in. Vegas isn’t dead. Some people are just mad the city kept going without them. At midnight on a Sunday, the casino floor at Paris Las Vegas was still buzzing with energy. I hadn’t walked through Paris in a few weeks, and honestly, it looked busier than the last time I posted an update. Las Vegas A’s Stadium Financing Update: While ironwork continues to rise at the Las Vegas A’s stadium site, there’s also a major development surrounding the Fisher family itself. Doris Fisher, co-founder of Gap and the matriarch of the Fisher family, passed away on May 2, 2026, at age 94. Her son, John Fisher, remains the controlling owner of the A’s. At this point, I have not seen any official reporting that directly connects Doris Fisher’s estate to stadium financing. What is confirmed is that the stadium financing picture has become much clearer. The current plan for the roughly $2 billion ballpark calls for about $1.1 billion in Fisher equity, a $300 million construction loan backed by U.S. Bank and Goldman Sachs, and up to $380 million in public funding, with the A’s previously indicating they expect to use about $350 million of that public money. That means the Fisher side of the financing package now represents roughly $1.4 billion between family equity and the private construction loan, even as questions remain about exactly when the team will tap the loan and public funding. The A’s said in February that they had already spent about $300 million on stadium construction, funded through Fisher equity, while work on the Strip site continues to push higher every week. So, two things can be true at once: the passing of Doris Fisher is a significant family development, and the stadium itself is no longer just a rendering or political promise — the iron is going up, hundreds of millions have already been spent, and the financing framework now shows a project moving deeper into reality.
