I know that if you are social media star like Paige Spiranac you are under the microscope. If you play in a televised million dollar internet golf tournament more so. But to say she’s a cheat is a joke. All she is doing is identifying her golf ball. It’s allowed. No grass was broken, it was moved to the side and flicked back once she knew it was hers. The clickbait angles the online crew try and find to keep this pot boiling should not be at the expense of someone’s reputation. Paige is a solid, honourable and upstanding woman of integrity and a great golfer too. End of conversation. Move on. 💪🏼

Wanna make more putts? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Try this. Many good putters put their lead hand on their lead leg and aim the club and the face with their right hand. This ensures the club is square. They then setup around that square club and make a reassured stroke knowing it’s square. Try it, many do it, not many notice they do it.

Great drill to improve your ball striking by the trail arm and ribcage controlling the path. We call it going around the corner and it’ll really get your strike solid. A word of warning ⚠️ however, for normal length swings this towel will make your arms “over-connected” which loses width and structure. Do it with half to three quarter swings, it’ll really help. 👌🏼⛳️ (source vid @lkd_golf )

You only normally see the good shots on TV. With the volume of coverage of the 🇬🇧Open, it’s nice to see a variety of players hitting good and not so good shots. Makes you realise that a round is not a perpetual highlight reel, more of a battle of minimising mistakes. Be easy on yourself out there, it’s supposed to be fun 🤩

I see soooo many artificial “internet” swings like this with people working on moves that are soooo contrived and not natural. This is often based on the coaches misinterpretation of an “ideal” swing 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ Not seeing many players doing these moves but see lots of online warriors trying it! Much of the misinformation is based on watching high speed, highly athletic, idiosyncratic outlier moves that most people simply can’t do. If you work online with me, you won’t be doing this stuff, but working on moves you can actually do and that work. Vid: Golf Digest

Young Rory compared to old is fascinating. As a young wiry kid he had amazing fluidity and range of motion which slotted that club in beautifully at the top all day long. Like Woods, Faldo, Duval, DeChambeau and many others, their pursuit of more power sees them bulking up and changing body composition. Bigger biceps, bigger chest, stronger legs, bigger back etc. But there is a balance between brute strength and range of motion/elasticity. It is fascinating to see how his swing has changed and how much work he puts into trying to get it back to his younger version by folding the trail arm and getting it more infront with less hand depth. He’s still incredible obviously but the lesson might be to keep the range of motion as you become “golf strong”. It’s a tough sport to train for to keep that balance. None of this contrived, complicated match-up stuff that many are throwing into the game. Club works up simply (not too much arm depth), lead wrist slightly flexed, trail side and arm plane shallow in transition, body opens and sidebends at impact. All in a second with very little thought. Stunning and a joy to watch and study. So much great footage coming to my Youtube on this.

2/2: Contrasting swing style to Colin that I just posted. Both winners. Both work. Don’t let anyone tell you there’s only one way, or “shallow is dead” or whatever. They are full of s**t. Golf has historically had misguided concepts and with social media, more so. I’m swing style agnostic but like a swing to be efficient as the ball responds to physics not magic. You should to.

Some people can make the complicated look sooooo simple! Minji Lee in action. That’s as good as any male or female player that you’ll see. Beautiful body motion. Core winds up to move the L-shape of the club and arms. Upper and lower body separate and shift, pulling the L-shape down. The body rotates and left arm n shaft line up at impact is simple big-picture. Lovely. Minjee Lee take a bow! Hours and years gone into that. 🙌🏼👌🏼 One of many great players in the women’s game. Coached this kid for many years and he now lives back in Korea. Love his swing, such great fluidity and tempo. It’s a great example also of the arms never getting stuck and how the club “releases” and is almost thrown in a different way to an iron. The shaft raises and club exits higher, the club freewheels more 👌🏼

Chipping- “The body is the motor. The arms hang on for the ride as the wrists create the artistry”- JY. Tiger at Augusta now, standing close and open at address. Watch the glove in back pocket as the motor (hips) gently rotates. 👌🏼 two different releases here as he hits subtle side spins to access tight pins.

This pitching style produces high spin and predictable trajectory making distance control easy. Goes like this Set up: narrow stance, hands and ball position neutral, clubface slightly open, weight hint left. Swing: Rib cage rotation is the engine. Wide back and through so club skids with slight shaft lean. Ball launches mid-20 degrees with a 58. Body raises up and backs up a hint. Pretty skilful but you can at least get it “wide to wide” to let the club skid not dig. Video Parker McLachlin

Rose Zhang is like a machine off the tee and one of the best drivers, male or female. What can we learn? 1. Long, wound and rhythmic backswing. 2.Rotation of forearm and wrist in transition to ultra-shallow it 3. Sidebend and rotation at impact with path going up and to the right. Note: hips get a little too spun and recoil later which actually helps torque in her case but not a part to copy. Great action overall. Vid LKD
