The new service will connect Tokyo metro area to Northern Tohoku, featuring ALL private Green Car compartments (120 passengers) in a converted E657 series trainset. The stunning exterior showcases two blues - “Memorial Blue” honoring classic Blue Trains and “Midnight Horizon” navy - creating a “Blue Moment” design that captures the magic of dawn travel. Inside: Premium & standard Green compartments (1-4 people), full-flat beds, L-shaped sofas, plus an onboard lounge.

JR East announced the E10 series, the next-gen Tohoku Shinkansen, set to replace the E2/E5. Design is underway, with first units arriving after autumn 2027 and commercial operations starting in 2030. Key Features of the E10 Series: •Safety Enhancements: The E10 series incorporates earthquake-resistant L-shaped vehicle guides and lateral dampers to reduce shaking and derailment risks. •Passenger Comfort: Features include wider luggage storage, power outlets at all seats, expanded wheelchair-accessible spaces, and a 2+2 seating layout with dividers for privacy. •Sustainability Initiatives: The train will use smart maintenance systems, energy-efficient drive components, and a dedicated cargo door to improve logistics. •Exterior Design: The E10 series will feature a green color scheme inspired by Tohoku’s landscape, cherry blossom motifs, and a design collaboration with UK firm tangerine.
