THIS GUY GOT SICK OF UK TRAIN STATIONS HIDING... THE PLATFORM NUMBER UNTIL THE LAST SECOND, SO HE VIBE CODED AN APP THAT PREDICTS IT BEFORE THEY REVEAL IT if youve ever stood in a crowded station like london euston, you know the pain the platform stays hidden until 15 minutes before boarding, then it flashes up and hundreds of people sprint for the same gate so he built something that fixes this: > a clean departures and arrivals app pulling live data straight from the network rail apis > live train tracking so you can watch where your train actually is on the route and whether its running on time > the main feature is a predictive engine that guesses your platform before the station reveals it, and its right about 75% of the time heres how it predicts: every time a train finishes its journey, it logs which platform it actually pulled into and compares that to the platform network rail originally advertised it saves every one of those comparisons, and over time it builds up enough history to predict the platform with a real confidence score he built the whole thing with claude, mostly opus with some fableshow more

Watch as the East Pacific Morphs into a Monster... El Niño - the strongest ever observed! This visual is different - it shows how surface and subsurface temperatures have heated dramatically since last fall - relative to October’s ocean state. The heat travels there under the surface from an overheated West Pacific Warm Pool. It’s a testament to all the excess heat being stored in the oceans now-a-days coming back to haunt us as it’s released back into the active climate system, increasing extreme weather and climate patterns like heat, floods, droughts, and fires. 【ZEUS Tokenomics 101】 What does the 20,000:1 ZEUS-to-BTC ratio... signify? For every 20,000 $ZEUS tokens delegated to the Guardian to secure the network, 1 Bitcoin seamlessly flows into the Solana ecosystem. To put it another way, connecting 100 $BTC to Solana requires delegating 2,000,000 $ZEUS, ensuring network stability and sufficient capacity. As demand for Bitcoin on Solana grows, this initial ratio will evolve into a dynamic model designed to accommodate 1% of Bitcoin’s liquidity.show more

Howrah Station will inaugurate its new 635-metre Platform 24 this month, as Eastern Railway expands infrastructure to handle rising passenger demand and additional train services. The expansion comes as Howrah Division earned a record ₹1,191 crore in revenue and served over 10 crore passengers during Q1 FY27, reflecting the growing demand on Bengal's rail network. Additional Infrastructure improvement like lifts, escalators, foot overbridges are being constructed while extending existing platform lengths. New York and Chicago are two big hubs in... the eastern US. Distance: 800 miles or 1300km roughly. Same as Delhi - Mumbai in India. There are 3 ways to travel. You can fly. You can drive. Or you can take a train. Fastest train is Amtrak lakeshore which takes ~19hrs. Driving takes 14hrs but you need to rest as well. I love trains. So I decided to take Amtrak. Their sleeper class. Took a roomette. First of all - American trains run on standard gauge. Which is smaller than Indian broad gauge. The compartments are smaller. And the trains are less comfortable. They shake way more. Second - Americans really don’t understand passenger trains. This train left late and then sat on a random station for 30mins. It’s already running late and usually reaches 2-3 even 5hrs delayed. And this is supposed to be a premium train. Culprit ? Freight. Americans don’t have dedicated fright tracks. The train btw is full. Which means people do want to travel on it. All sorts of people. Old, young. Business travellers. Only 2 coaches are sleeper - rest are coach (chaircars). Then the train reaches Albani and has to merge with another train from boston. Whole process takes 30-45mins. Can you believe a major train just sitting off a closed platform, cutting off its engines and adding more bogies in the middle of its journey in India ? The train had power supply for 30 mins cause it’s powered by diesel engines. Which are cut off. Diesel engine. Yes. The entire route except parts of NYC is non electric. It’s all old school diesel. It slowly chugs after and stops everywhere it can. Like an old Indian passenger train. The cabin is decent as it should be for a $700 price. The food is microwaved prepackaged stuff - ie very bad. There’s a coach attendant but he doesn’t care. I’ve travelled extensively in Rajdhani - and I can tell you it’s high luxury compared to this. And for 1/10th the price. The food, the cabin - all are superior. The reason I’m bringing this up is not to say Indians know it better. Not at all. But that even the most advanced cultures get it wrong. Even the most sorted out people - the one most advanced in tech - somehow don’t know how to run cross-country trains at scale. And this is not even a cross country trip. Hardly 1/4th of it. So what did they get wrong ? They stopped building. Upgrading. Improving. They do a few things right. Like making good highways. Take that learning. They do many things wrong. Like this train. They’ve stopped building. No dedicated freight tracks. No magnificent new stations. No high speed rail. The only lesson to learn is to not make that mistake. Build. And keep building. There’s no substitute to that. Keep building. Keep upgrading. Keep improving.show more

🔴 We are thrilled by the great interest Zimbabweans... have shown in our trains over the past few days. The train to traverse between Harare and Mutare during the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanai Tourism Expo has the following category of coaches: 1. Diners with fitted seats and tables 2. Sleeper coaches with beds for those that love to relax and enjoy the trip in serenity. 3. A single dance coach (whose picture has been trending recently) for people to mix and mingle over a drink. It also comes with a full bar and catering, WiFi and clean restrooms as shown in the short picture slide show accompanying this postshow more

When we first started recording Prizefighter, Gracie Abrams and... Aaron Dessner were working upstairs at Electric Lady. We’ve followed Gracie’s career from the beginning, right from when she started, and think she has turned into one of the world’s most interesting artists with the most amazingly lazer-like sensibilities, taste, and choices. She was there the day the record started and in turn became the fairy godmother of this record, just tapping songs with her magic wand. So when it came to it, we asked if she wanted to sing on anything, and she picked Badlands. We are so grateful as she turned it into more than we dreamt it could ever be.show more

🚄FROM VANDE BHARAT TO KOLKATA TRAMS: JUPITER WAGONS’ BIG... BET ON BENGAL’S RAIL FUTURE!🚋 One of India’s leading railway manufacturers, Jupiter Wagons, is making a major leap into passenger rail—and West Bengal is at the centre of its expansion plans. 🏭 New Hooghly coach factory: Jupiter Wagons will establish a dedicated manufacturing facility in Hooghly to build Vande Bharat trainsets, Metro coaches and other passenger rolling stock, making it Bengal’s second Vande Bharat coach manufacturing hub after Titagarh Rail Systems’ Uttarpara plant. 🚆 Entering the Vande Bharat era: The company is expanding beyond freight wagons to compete in India’s rapidly growing passenger rail market, targeting upcoming Vande Bharat, Metro and suburban train opportunities. 🌍 Global technology partnerships: Jupiter is working with international partners, including an existing collaboration with CAF (Spain), as it prepares to bid for major passenger rail projects, including Mumbai’s ₹20,000 crore suburban rail programme. ⚙️ Building the complete ecosystem: A new wheelset manufacturing facility in Odisha, developed with international partners, will supply critical wheels and axles for passenger coaches while also serving export markets. 🚋 Kolkata trams could benefit too: The company has expressed interest in participating in the modernisation of Kolkata’s historic tram network, should the state’s revival plans move ahead. 📈 Ambitious growth plans: Jupiter Wagons is targeting annual revenues of ₹10,000 crore over the next few years, with passenger rail expected to become a major growth driver. If these plans materialise, West Bengal will strengthen its position as one of India’s leading railway manufacturing centres—producing everything from freight wagons and Metro coaches to Vande Bharat trains and potentially even modern trams. #WestBengal #VandeBharat #Railwaysshow more

Check out the behind-the-scenes on how we created our... 'Primal Glow' ad to launch Nano Banana Pro on Leonardo Ai. From initial concepting to refining the "Primal Glow" aesthetic, this guide takes you through the full production process. Here are two immediate takeaways from our workflow: 1. Consistency is key (and simple). We found that hard-coding a specific film stock into our prompts (we chose Ektachrome) was the easiest way to ensure lighting and color grading matched across every single shot. 2. Leverage "World Knowledge" for localization. Instead of manually translating ad copy, we prompted for specific locations (like a Tokyo subway or a Berlin bus stop). The model automatically translated the text into Japanese (Katakana) and German to match the environment. The full guide covers storyboarding at speed (we finished the concept in 1.5 hours!), our prompt structures, and the specific settings used. Jump in and check it out. 🐒 Repost + Comment "glow" for the guide in your DMshow more

Fastest intensification I’ve ever seen for sure. With the incredible sea surface temps and rising global temperatures I’m sure this won’t be the last of these kind of storms we get to witness. SOMEONE FROM TOKYO IS MAPPING BIRD LANGUAGE INTO REAL... DATA PATTERNS AND THE VISUALIZATION LOOKS LIKE A NEURAL NETWORK DREAMING Every bird sound - frequency, duration, amplitude and modulation - gets converted into 3D space coordinates and rendered as a cluster of colored points in real time through Deepen AI. A microphone captures the acoustic signal, FFT breaks it down into frequency components from 1 kHz to 8 kHz where most birds communicate, an ML model classifies the pattern and the mapped data hits a graph where each call type gets its own color and position in space. Birds have a vocal repertoire of 5 to 200+ unique signals depending on the species - and every signal carries different information about predators, food, territory and mates that humans simply can't hear. The same technology that decodes bird language detects anomalies in industrial machinery, cardiac rhythms and structural vibrations in buildings - he just trained it on nature first.show more

Taking an overnight train from St. Petersburg to Murmansk... #Russia in winters to view the #NorthernLights / #AuroraBorealis - Pay a little extra and get the lower berth or else you'll be missing some amazing views en route - Your passport number is taken when booking a ticket, so it's normal for Police Officers to come and wake you up to check your ID etc any time in the night. Random checks. They're very polite and post checking passport etc leave. I was woken up twice and an officer was waiting for me at Murmansk Station. As I stepped out, he asked me to accompany him to the Railways Police Station. Checked my passport, visa. Asked for stay bookings. Also took my mobile IMEI as Murmansk is close to EU borders. Again very respectful and no issues. Post all checks, I was told I was welcome to Russia and was allowed to leave. - All Russia overnight trains have free hot water and they'll give you a distinctive metal cup holder (podstakannik) glass cup for having your hot drinks. Make sure to carry your preferred drinks sachets etc. You can buy them onboard but they don't have much variety. - Clean bed linen - pillow, duvet, sheets, and a towel are given - The train is nicely temperature controlled. Mine was 24° C something while the temperatures outside were -12° C. - Train stations have really nicely stocked supermarkets where you can buy food and all kinds of other stuff also which is needed. - Each passenger carriage (coach) will have a dedicated attendant who would have their small space at the end of the coach. - Bathrooms get a bit dirty with longer duration trains so get your bathroom slippers along. - Make sure to get your eye mask and ear plugs - Some trains do have a restaurant car and you can get alcoholic drinks to consume in the car itself and not on seat. It's prohibited. While I saw quite a few having them at their seats too. If you kept to yourself and if the attendant doesn't object, it's fine. Else just stick to hot drinks of your choice. Don't risk it. Not worth. I carried instant coffee and instant noodle packets. - Carry your own snacks etc as onboard. It's all limited, and if you're vegetarian then not much choice. - Trains have Wifi onboard but not that reliable / Share | RT #DakuKaGyaanshow more
