“… Utkal is not yours, Bengal is not yours…” Anti-Bengal Mamata Banerjee Mamata Banerjee’s favourite fawning flatterer mocks at BJP and swears that she will see to it that the Modi Govt and the BJP are put on the proverbial funeral pyre. Bengal and Bengalis have responded.

As a Hindu Bengali of East Bengal origin and a refugee legatee, I cannot but compliment Jairam Ramesh and thank him enough for his eloquent defence of Hindus in Bangladesh who are being targeted by Islamists. This is called ‘Politics of Courage’.

More than 10 lakh Bengalis jam Brigade to see, hear and cheer PM Modi. I have seen scores of rallies at Brigade Parade Ground since the 1977 historic Left rally. But nothing comes close to what I saw at PM Modi’s rally today. It was not a sea of people but an ocean of Bengalis who kept pouring in, tidal wave after tidal wave, till there was not an inch of space left. Brigade has a 10-lakh capacity. The ground was choked long before the PM arrived. All roads leading to Brigade were jammed by buses, tailing back several miles, from which people were unable to alight. As Modi Ji spoke, the loudest support came from Adivasis and farmers (chaashi) who were out in full strength. Also women and youth — the women stood on chairs, the youth couldn’t get enough of Modi Ji. It was a very hot scorching day and there was no covering tent. It was all open. Nobody complained. Best part — I sat with the unwashed masses to get a sense of their sentiments. They were organic and raw. This could be the inflexion point all of West Bengal and Bengalis have been waiting for. The bend in politics that could yet rewrite the destiny of Obhaga Bangla — unlucky Bengal, a State deprived, dishonoured and disinherited by its corrupt, criminal and communal rulers.

A minion was trying to impress his Netri by quoting from Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Bharat Bhagya Bidhata’ or ‘The Morning Song of India’ from which Bharat’s National Anthem is excerpted. Netri curtly told minion to cut the cr*p and move on. This is the reality of “Tagore’s Bengal”.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s TMC thugs beating up TMC’s Tribal Panchayat Pradhan of Kharagpur… Mamata Banerjee has a nondiscriminatory political policy: her party hoodlums beat up those who do NOT support her as well as those who DO support her.

Subtext: Hindu lives do not matter for TMC. Hence Rajdeep Sardesai is batting for Bangladeshi Mustafizur. Meanwhile usurper Yunus’s Islamists are seen seizing the land of Dhaneshwar Barman of Ghoshpur village, Pirganj, Rangpur district, Bangladesh. IndiaToday won’t show this.

CM Mamata Banerjee has dragged Kolkata, and West Bengal to 1971 when men in khaki were used to unleash unspeakable horrors on people demanding their basic rights. Mamata Banerjee’s closest aides in TMC made tens of crores from the teachers recruitment racket. Teachers protesting the racket were brutalised by Mamata Banerjee’s police on Thursday. This is horrific. This is unacceptable. This is neither Tagore’s not Nazrul’s Bengal. This is the Bengal of a vicious authoritarian regime which has lost all semblance of sanity. Ma, Maati, Manush? Really?

Modi Ji’s Jhaal Muri googly leaves Mamata Banerjee ranting in rage! Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Bengal and has Jhaal Muri which he pays for. Video goes mega viral — more than 24 hours later Bengalis are still talking about it, posting about it, sharing the video on family and friends groups (Mrs Moitra from Arizona America says, ‘Eeeeeshhhh…… I want some also……’; the extra dots depicting her super excitement), debating its socio-political-economic symbolism, scrapping over whether Jhal Muri is more hawt than Ghoogni, and analysing whether this indicates puffed rice is all set to replace fish fry: all this in Bangla Bhasha of varied grammatical errors. All this has left CM Mamata Banerjee apoplectic with rage. a. Modi Ji having Jhal Muri has fetched more views than her having Telebhaja (Pakora) Muri. b. Modi Ji paying for the Jhal Muri has shown up TMC thugs who wouldn’t pay the Jhal Muri wallah; instead they’d have collected ‘Tola’ and possibly lugged off the stuff in his shop. c. Modi Ji connecting with women over Jhal Muri has mocked her hollow ‘Ma, Mati, Manush’ slogan which now fetches anger and scorn. d. Modi Ji eating Jhal Muri is a way better photo-op than her cooking momos at a street stall (without washing her hands). e. Modi Ji sharing Jhal Muri with fans is actually a super secret code for Central Forces to steal EVMs. f. Modi Ji has chosen Jhal Muri over Biriyani and thus insulted TMC’s State Dish. g. Modi Ji has made common cause with Bohiragoto ‘Biharis’ who created the two-pice street food called ‘Jhal Muri’ and popularised it during the war years, and, like the Phoochka Wallahs of Kolkata, can still be seen selling the snack in the impoverished remnants of the Empire’s Second City. If all this does not make for a very public meltdown then I have nothing to say.
