When the lights go down, I think about the people who made what's on that screen: the grips, the crews, the caterers, the set builders. I created the first tax credit in Sacramento, and I helped expand it as Mayor. We appointed a Film Czar to help filmmakers avoid bureaucracy. Cut filming fees at Griffith Observatory cut by 70%. Reopened the Central Library to production after more than a decade. Issued Executive Directives to cut the red tape that was pushing shoots out of LA. There’s still a lot more work to do, but we’re finally seeing an uptick in production in L.A.
