When I became mayor, Los Angeles was facing challenges that had been ignored for decades. So I got to work. Homelessness is down 17.5%. Homicides are at their lowest level since the 1960s. More than 42,000 affordable housing units are being fast-tracked. There is still more work to do to make L.A. safer, more affordable, and a city that works for everyone.

Hollywood is part of L.A.’s identity. The entertainment industry should be able to thrive in the city that built it. That’s why I cut filming fees, reduced unnecessary production costs, and reopened city buildings for filming to help keep jobs and production in Los Angeles. There’s still a lot more work to do, but we’re finally seeing an uptick in production in L.A.

Early this morning, a water main dating back more than 100 years ruptured near Sunset and Holloway, flooding streets and damaging homes and vehicles in West Hollywood. I was on site with LADWP crews working urgently — the water is off, and repairs are underway. If your property or vehicle was damaged, LADWP personnel are on site to help with damage assessments, and you can file a claim at Here's the bigger picture: this pipe was built in 1916. Infrastructure this old is failing across our city — and for generations, L.A. never had a comprehensive plan to fix it. That's why we launched the city's first-ever Capital Infrastructure Program. We can't keep waiting for pipes to burst before we act. Thank you to our DWP crews and first responders for their urgent work today. We'll keep you updated as progress is made.
