Purple/Lavender Revolution in Kashmir Lavender cultivation has emerged as a successful government-backed initiative in Jammu and Kashmir under the CSIR Aroma Mission. Initiatives such as the Lavender Festival have further promoted awareness, tourism, and economic opportunities around the crop. With its high aromatic value and strong demand for essential oils, perfumes, and cosmetics, lavender offers farmers a profitable alternative crop with good revenue potential. More suitable land in the Union Territory should be brought under lavender cultivation to strengthen the rural economy and further establish Jammu and Kashmir as a leading hub for aromatic crops.
