日伊友好160周年を記念して、イタリア大使館にて昨晩行われたモータースポーツをテーマにしたパーティ。 今年、ミッレミリア99年目にして、はじめて日本車がミッレミリアを走った、そのままの2000GTで、豊田章男さんが登場。助手席にはハースF1のチームプリンシパル、小松礼雄さん。 30年前、当時は荒唐無稽だった、初代グランツーリスモの企画を「やってみましょう」と最初にOKしていただいたのはトヨタでした。 その後、ニュルブルクリンクに私を導いて下さったのもトヨタですし、グランツーリスモ・ワールドシリーズのファウンディング・パートナーであるのはもちろん、今回のミッレミリア・GTエクスペリエンスも同様です。 大きな会社でありながら、常に新しいものを拒絶しない好奇心と懐の深さには、常に深い畏敬の念があります。 Last night, the Italian Embassy hosted a motorsports-themed party to commemorate the 160th anniversary of Japan-Italy friendship. Akio Toyoda made his appearance in a 2000GT—the first Japanese car to compete in the Mille Miglia, which marks its 99th anniversary this year. In the passenger seat was Ayao Komatsu, Team Principal of Haas F1. Thirty years ago, it was Toyota that first gave the green light to the project for the original *Gran Turismo*—an idea that seemed utterly far-fetched at the time—by saying, “Let’s give it a try.” It was also Toyota that later guided me to the Nürburgring, and while they are, of course, a founding partner of the Gran Turismo World Series, they are also a founding partner of this Mille Miglia GT Experience. Even as a large corporation, I have always held deep respect for their curiosity—which never rejects new ideas—and their generosity of spirit.

I’ve successfully completed the Mille Miglia. Five days, around 2,000 km, 60 hours of driving, and tens of thousands of different corners and road surfaces. The history of motor racing began with road races, and the Mille Miglia is a unique event that brings those origins to life. ミッレミリア、無事フィニッシュしました。 ５日間、約2000km、60時間のドライビング、数万の異なるコーナーと路面。 レースの歴史は公道レースから始まりましたが、ミッレミリアはその起源を教えてくれる貴重なレースです。

孵化後、50日経った二羽のうずら。 すっかり大人になった。 それぞれオスとメスで、今朝、初めての産卵。 産んだ卵は、まだほんのり温かい。 Two quails 50 days after hatching. They are now fully grown adults. They are a male and a female respectively, and the female laid her first egg this morning. The eggs laid are still slightly warm.
