I never expected one class to redirect my life. But that’s the thing about curiosity: you never know where one question will lead, do you? I took a class on climate change to fulfill a breadth requirement - and was surprised to learn that climate change isn’t just an environmental issue. It affects our health, our future, and every aspect of our lives. I also learned that while climate change affects us all, it doesn’t affect us equally. Those who’ve done the least to cause it bear the brunt of its impacts, and that’s not fair. We need to fix that: so that’s why I became a climate scientist & why I’m joining Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for #CuriosityOnAMission. We need scientists to keep asking big questions, and university science helps make that possible. Visit for more. #CuriosityPartner #sponsored

One of the stranger claims I see online is that reducing CO₂ would somehow be “the end of humanity because we need CO2 to breathe.” In reality, the carbon we exhale (not inhale) is part of a short, natural cycle: plants take it in, we eat the plants (or animals that ate them), and we release that carbon back into the air within a year or so. What’s not natural is digging up fossil fuels—carbon that’s been locked underground for millions of years—and releasing it all at once. This clock isn’t a countdown to the apocalypse. It’s a countdown to our target to reduce emissions 45% by 2030. The science is clear: every bit of warming we can avoid makes a difference, and that’s why every action matters 💪🏻❤️ #climatechange #nycclimateweek

If you’ve ever heard that today’s climate change is natural—driven by changes in the Earth’s orbit, the sun, or even “space weather”—you’re not alone. These excuses show up everywhere, from comment sections of my Facebook page to dinner table conversations. On the surface, some of these sciencey-sounding arguments can even sound reasonable. So in this episode of Cold Facts, Hot Takes, I’m testing a few of those claims against the evidence. Subscribe to watch the full episode on Substack: Or Patreon:
