More than 1,000 covered bridges once crossed the rivers and streams of New England. Fewer than 200 remain today. 🍁 Back in the horse and buggy days, they picked up another name: “kissing bridges.” The dark, covered crossing gave courting couples just enough privacy to steal a kiss before coming out the other side. So if you’re taking the scenic route through New England this fall, I think we should bring back this old New Englander’s tradition. 😘🇺🇸

We heard the first snow had fallen high in the Presidential Range, so naturally we had to go find it. ❄️🍂 Watching the Cog Railway climb out of peak foliage and disappear into a snow covered Mount Washington felt like watching fall turn into winter right before our eyes. The first snow always feels like a little reminder of all the good things to come. 🚂❄️🎄

We made the cover of Country Living! 🍂 When Country Living asked to photograph our New Hampshire cabin, we loaded up the Wagoneer, stopped at every farm stand we knew, and gathered our family and friends for a few very happy days of pumpkins, mums, and mountain air. Putting it all together was such a joy, and seeing our family and cabin on the cover was the sweetest surprise. Thank you, Country Living, for giving us a fall memory we’ll always treasure. 🎃
