With SPH if you scale the repulsion so it's stronger on the y-axis than x-axis while keeping the attraction radial you get some similar tendril behavior.

Liquid Crystal first tech demo from 2020. I lost a bit of steam in the following years because of chip shortages etc. With Liquid Layers Maker I will try to bring the best 2D building experience I can for low spec, continue skilling up with VoxelMash 2, and then finally tackle Liquid Crystal with WebGPU.
