![Lara on Indian culture being appropriated by Western media: “People have taken from Indian culture so much and not given the credit where it’s due. […] The Indian scale, the music, the grandeur of Bollywood […] someone Indian should be representing that […] ’cause it’s mine.”](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2089502944890650883/amplify_video_thumb/2089502912787431424/img/YhmX08TJcQP0WOXs.jpg)

Yoonchae rarely takes the initiative to answer a question that isn’t specifically directed at her, so the fact that she chose to speak up this time to make it clear that they don’t hate each other, while looking at & sitting right next to Lara (who is so often scapegoated by people using their interactions to target her) is something worth respecting and actually thinking about.

![Lara talks about the misconceptions and assumptions people have about them: “I think a big misconception is that artists or just people in the public are bulletproof. [..] We are so young and have kind of grown up with these speculations or so many eyes on us. And while it's something that we're so grateful for [..] People get to see our personality, but it’s not the full story, if that makes sense. [..] A lot of things get edited and people make false narratives. [..] There’s zero fact checking.”](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2092629983759835255/amplify_video_thumb/2092629894438027264/img/Py0DaqdzxBNwh9Q-.jpg)

![Lara recalls a sweet encounter with a Disney event worker who approached her during the D23 event and gifted her stickers for the girls, reminding them to take care of themselves and that better days are ahead. 🥹 “I just wanted to tell you, like, I know you guys are going through so much, and, like, people have been really mean to you recently […] and I just wanted to give you these stickers that you can have and give to all the girls […] I just want to remind you to take care of yourself and that I love you, that you guys are all beautiful and keep going.”](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2089882820189601966/amplify_video_thumb/2089882711968133120/img/76wP4eiGqGWDXA8Y.jpg)

![Lara speaks on how deeply false narratives & mischaracterization can affect them: “There's just people like say such horrible things and run with it And [..] they don’t realize [..] how painful that can be to be on the receiving end of that. [..] Especially when it has to do with like people you love [..] when it’s misconceptions about our relationship and it can get so dark and it’s just sad.”](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2092625013874520575/amplify_video_thumb/2092624964218204160/img/Ybe1D-LQnz9MCaBV.jpg)

Lara has said on several occasions that she deleted TikTok (and Twitter). It really isn’t hard to understand why, given that these spaces have clearly not been mentally safe for her. If she has deliberately removed herself from these platforms, she will likely be less aware or informed about issues occurring in another country. Those “demanding” that she speak up about certain issues and complaining when she does speak up later should take that into consideration, particularly when they are consistently absent when it comes to protecting her from and addressing the racism and harassment she faces herself.
