Our news industry is broken. Instead of optimizing for truth, it optimizes for outrage. And it's no one in particular's fault! It's the nature of the game itself. A classic Moloch trap. I explore this in my new film "The Media Wars" now available on Twitter in full: 👇

I asked an Amazonian Shaman about AI! It’s not often you get to meet--let alone interview--someone who has lived most of their life outside of modern society, and has an entirely different flavor of wisdom to anyone else you know. So when Txana Tuwe, elder of the Huni Kuin tribe from the Brazilian rainforest, came to Austin, I had to get him on Win-Win, language barrier be damned! We discuss AI, ayahuasca, shamanic warfare, competitiveness, talking to whales... as you'll see he has very different perspectives (and general vibe) to your average modern person, and I am so grateful for him for joining this experiment. Hope you enjoy. Chapters 00:00 Intro 01:35 - His Mission in America 03:30 - Ancestral Wisdom and Ayahuasca 07:46 - Alternative Paths to Wisdom 10:48 - Ancient Technologies 15:19 - Talking to Plants, Animals & Spirits 17:11 - Impact of Technology in the Amazon 18:56 - Deforestation Pressures 24:37 - Tribal Warfare 28:14 - What can be done by us? 29:56 - Tuwe’s Favorite Games 31:56 - Is he competitive? Shamanic Wars?

What if we're all PARTIALLY right... about AI? Skeptics, e/acc, safetyists, ethicists, china-hawks... the AI debate has become a hot mess. So I tried to act it out. Watch the results below. If I butchered your accent, I do not apologize. This was not an easy film to make.

Anthropic and the Department of War are... at war. But who can we trust to govern superintelligent AI? The government, or the market? Two people who strongly disagree on this are Dean W. Ball (ex senior advisor to Trump) and Daniel Kokotajlo (ex OpenAI). So I asked them to debate it! But this goes way beyond a simple debate. They also had to red-team their own arguments and steelman each other. It's a new format called an ANTI-debate (more info below). Lmk what you think! 00:00 - Intro 03:42 - Daniel’s Story 04:34 - Dean’s Story 06:52 - Opening Statements 19:54 - Rebuttals 25:45 - Free Debate 36:32 - Steelmanning 45:40 - Red-teaming 51:38 - Synthesis 1:17:30 - Closing Statements

Democracy is a hot mess right now, in part because politicians are an outdated technology. What if we replaced - or at least supplemented them with -databases that tracked their constituents' values? That's one of many juicy topics covered in this Win-Win conversation with Jamie Joyce for Congress . Jamie is the founder of Society Library and a leading expert on information infrastructure, and this is one of my favourite conversations thus far. Watch right here on X, or your usual pod platform. Chapters: 0:00 - Intro 4:30 - Diablo Canyon Debate Map 14:26 - How To Evaluate Evidence? 16:18 - How To Minimize Bias? 19:06 - Bad Faith & Fringe Perspectives 24:16 - Flat Earth Conspiracies? 28:37 - Cyber Attacks On Internet Archive 33:54 - Modernizing Government 41:01 - The Evil of Corporate Lobbying 49:40 - Managing Info Hazards 53:19 - Virtues And Values 57:06 - When Jamie Neatly Went Blind 1:01:27 - Improving The Information Ecosystem 1:12:44 - Prediction Markets and Sensemaking 1:15:25 - Structuring Data For Improved Learning 1:22:17 - Society Library Meme Token Nonsense 1:32:21 - Rapid Fire Predictions 1:38:51 - Jamie's Favorite Win-Win

How do we fix factory farming? Most people hate it -- it sucks for our health, our animals, our environment, and it's putting small farmers out of business. So why is it still happening? I sat down with food policy researcher Lewis Bollard to understand how to fix the worst parts of the meat industry. A super informationally dense episode on a topic very dear to my heart, so please watch and share, thank you♥️ Chapters: 0:00 - Intro & Lewis's life story 4:20 - What Qualifies as a Factory Farm? 14:20 - The Human Cost Of Factory Farming 20:33 - U.S. Labeling Standards 25:11 - Pandemic Risks from Factory Farming 31:45 - Environmental Impacts 36:28 - Mental Health Of Farm Workers 43:13 - Undercover Reporting 48:14 - Political Corruption and Incentives 53:14 - EATS Act & the Farm Bill 1:00:32 - Ag-gag Laws 1:04:32 - Improvements & Solutions 1:17:29 - Government Subsidies 1:24:02 - Technological Solutions 1:31:08 - Cultivated Meat 1:39:52 - Advice From Lewis 1:45:38 - Finding a Win-Win Future of Farming The Win-Win Podcast: Poker champion Liv Boeree is joined by top researchers, philosophers, gamers, artists, technologists, CEOs, scientists, athletes and more to understand how competition manifests in their world, and how to design incentives to fix coordination problems and change lose-lose games into Win-Wins.
