An SLC ride share driver followed all the Lyft guidelines for returning a left-behind wallet. When he met with the passenger to hand over the item, things escalated seemingly out of nowhere. The passenger began punching him several times through his open window. The driver managed to roll up the window and drive off after 7 hits. The suspect has not been arrested. KUTV2news

A 21-year-old Colombian man, who is protected under Special Immigration Juvenile Status, was detained by ICE inside an immigration courthouse just minutes after a judge dismissed his deportation case. He has no criminal record and was in the process of obtaining his green card. KUTV2news

Salt Lake City council approved an ordinance change that could slow or block development of a warehouse into an ICE detention facility by limiting water usage. A water rights attorney explained that this is within the municipality’s jurisdiction, granted by state law. If the state wanted to intervene, they’d have to change state law in a special session.
