🐾 Abandoned at the Airport… but Not Forgotten We can’t believe we have to say this… but please don’t abandon your dog at the airport — or anywhere else. On February 2, 2026, at approximately 11:39 p.m., LVMPD officers assigned to Harry Reid International Airport responded to Terminal 3 after receiving reports of a dog that had been tied to a metal carry-on baggage sizer and left behind at the JetBlue ticket counter. Airline staff advised the dog’s owner she was required to complete online documentation in order to travel with the animal as a service dog. When the required paperwork was not completed, the passenger was denied a boarding pass. She then left the dog behind and proceeded through the airport to the departure gate. Officers later located the individual at Gate D1. When asked why she abandoned the dog, she stated the airline would not allow her to fly with it and claimed the dog had a tracking device — implying it was acceptable to leave the animal behind and it would return to her. While escorting her back through the security checkpoint, she became hostile and resisted officers’ attempts to detain her. She was arrested and booked for: ▪️ Animal Abandonment ▪️ Resisting Arrest Airport employees and LVMPD Officers immediately stepped in to care for the approximately 2-year-old golden doodle/mini poodle while the owner was processed. Animal Protective Services took custody of the dog. After the mandatory 10-day hold period passed and the owner never returned, Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas stepped in. DRONE SUCCESS STORY! LVMPD officers responded to a report of a battery near Las Vegas and Elvis Presley Boulevards. As officers headed to the area, a drone was quickly deployed and located the suspect from above. Even after the suspect attempted to discard his shirt to avoid identification, the drone maintained visual contact and guided officers directly to his location, leading to a quick and safe apprehension. What started as a planned weekend event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway didn’t stay at the track. As crowds left sanctioned events, some attempted to take over intersections across the valley — putting drivers, spectators, and the community at risk. 🎥 In this video: A vehicle takes over an intersection at Tropical Parkway and Celebration Way around 12:30 a.m. on April 26, 2026, as a crowd gathers. #UPDATE Sheriff Kevin McMahill, alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Clark County Fire Department, provided a detailed update regarding the complex investigation at a residence on Sugar Springs Drive in northeast Las Vegas near Washington and Hollywood. A little over a week ago, LVMPD received information that laboratory equipment and potentially hazardous materials may have been stored inside the home. As investigators looked deeper, they learned the property owner was connected to a 2023 illegal biological laboratory investigation in Reedley, California. In that California case, investigators reportedly discovered materials possibly associated with infectious diseases including hepatitis, COVID-19, HIV, malaria, and other potentially dangerous pathogens. While it was unknown whether similar materials were present at the Las Vegas residence, the possibility required LVMPD and partner agencies to proceed with extreme caution. Because of those concerns, LVMPD’s Counterterrorism Section and ARMOR Task Force, in partnership with the FBI and regional fire agencies, initiated a joint investigation and extensive operational planning to address the potential risk safely. Early Saturday morning at 5:51 a.m., LVMPD SWAT served the search warrant. Three individuals renting rooms inside the home were safely removed and are not involved in the investigation. Investigators focused on a locked garage believed to contain the materials. To minimize risk, LVMPD deployed drones for aerial awareness and a tactical robot to clear the interior and conduct air sampling before personnel entered. Once safe to proceed, the ARMOR team entered wearing protective equipment. Investigators observed refrigerators, a freezer, laboratory-type equipment, and numerous containers holding unknown liquid substances. Due to the unknown nature of the materials, the operation required multiple controlled entries, strict safety protocols, and extensive decontamination procedures. Evidence collection continued through Sunday and concluded at approximately 6:30 p.m. The materials were transported to a Southern Nevada Health District facility for secure storage and are now being transferred to an FBI laboratory for testing. Remediation of the residence was completed early this morning. Final checks confirmed the location is safe. One suspect connected to the property owner remains in federal custody related to the Reedley investigation. LVMPD also arrested 55-year-old Ori Solomon on a charge of disposing and discharging hazardous waste. This operation involved a coordinated response from numerous local, state, and federal partners. Sheriff McMahill emphasized that modern technology, including drones, robotics, and real-time command monitoring, played a critical role in protecting first responders while allowing the operation to move quickly and safely. We thank the residents of the neighborhood for their patience and cooperation throughout the weekend. Additional confirmed information will be released as it becomes available.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨 This morning, around 8:30 a.m., LVMPD responded to a business in the 3100 block of East Sunset Road after a large group of upset people gathered. Victims reported that they had applied for a job opportunity as third-party Amazon delivery drivers, advertised online on January 21. Applicants were asked to fill out an application and pay a $200 fee in cash, credit cards, or checks. They were told to return for an interview at a later date. Today, when several applicants returned, they discovered the business had been completely vacated by the people responsible. It turns out the job posting was a scam. As word spread on social media, more victims arrived at the location. LVMPD Drone Locates Missing Child When a family called 911 to report their child was missing on January 5, LVMPD’s Drone as a First Responder (DFR) team responded immediately. Within minutes, the drone was in the air near Charleston and Fort Apache and used its thermal camera to detect a heat signature consistent with a small child behind a nearby backyard. The DFR pilot relayed real-time information to dispatch, helping guide officers and the family to the child’s location. RIGHT TO JAIL! Around 8:30 p.m. last night, a stolen vehicle was detected near Lake Mead and Hollywood through our License Plate Reader (LPR) technology. Officers moved in to conduct a felony vehicle stop, but the driver took off, driving dangerously and weaving into oncoming traffic. There was no pursuit, however, the driver continued driving dangerously and eventually crashed into another vehicle near Linn Lane and Lake Mead Blvd. The person in that vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but thankfully, there were no serious injuries. The driver ran into a nearby backyard, but LVMPD's AIR5 guided officers to his location. He surrendered and was taken into custody. Today, we stood alongside our brothers and sisters in law enforcement to honor fallen LA County Sheriffs Deputy Levi Vargas. Deputy Vargas tragically passed away after suffering a medical emergency while participating in the 2026 Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay over the weekend. As the procession moved through the valley, officers from across Southern Nevada paid their respects—standing united in remembrance, service, and sacrifice. Deputy Vargas, 30, served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department since 2015. He began his career as a Custody Assistant before graduating from Academy Class 413 and serving in multiple assignments, most recently at San Dimas Station. He was known among his colleagues and friends for his professionalism, commitment, and compassion for the communities he served. Deputy Vargas is survived by his wife, parents, siblings, and extended family.

RECKLESS! On Monday, December 1, around 12:30 a.m., AIR5 spotted a reckless driver on US 95 at Charleston. The light-colored sedan was traveling at speeds between 120 and 140 miles per hour, weaving dangerously close to cars and passing on the shoulder. The vehicle was seen sparking at some points while Air 5 tried to keep up with the dangerous speeds. As you can see from this helicopter video, this could have ended in tragedy. One of our patrol officers spotted the vehicle and pulled it over on the southbound I-15 ramp from US 95. Behind the wheel was an 18-year-old who showed signs of impairment. The car also had a 16, 17, and another 18-year-old inside. Dangerous, deadly, and downright dumb. The driver was arrested, and the car was impounded. We are cracking down on dangerous driving, from the air and on the ground. So far, 148 people killed on roads within our jurisdiction in 2025. Event: LLV251200000100

Sheriff Kevin McMahill provided an update Saturday regarding a search warrant involving a suspected biological laboratory inside a residence near Washington Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. On January 31, 2026, at approximately 5:51 a.m., LVMPD SWAT officers served a search warrant at a home on Sugar Springs Drive in northeast Las Vegas. The warrant was based on information indicating a biological laboratory may have been inside the residence. At the same time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted a search at a nearby home on Temple View Drive. No threat was found at that location. Inside the Sugar Springs Drive residence, investigators located evidence of possible biological material, including refrigerators containing vials with unknown liquids. LVMPD’s All-Hazard Regional Multi-agency Operations and Response (ARMOR) Section is working closely with the FBI, local fire departments, and other partners to ensure the safe recovery and mitigation of these items. This remains a complex, multi-agency investigation involving numerous specialized resources. The ongoing first responder presence in the area over the past several days is part of a slow, methodical process by design. These situations are handled with extreme caution to ensure the safety of both personnel and the community. FBI Special Agent in Charge Chris Delzotto emphasized the FBI’s role in supporting state and local partners through specialized laboratory, evidence response, scientific analysis, and technical hazards resources. One suspect has been taken into custody. Additional information will be released today at a news conference scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

🎥 New video shows the moments this all came together—air, ground, and community. On March 10, LVMPD responded to a domestic violence incident involving a reported strangulation. As officers were working to locate the suspect, he fled—leading to a dangerous series of events near West Desert Inn Road and South Decatur Boulevard. From above, our Air Unit tracked the suspect as he drove erratically through the area. Moments later, the suspect crashed—leading to a foot chase. Two citizens, witnessing the chaos unfold, took action. Using their vehicles, they helped block in and stop the suspect, assisting our officer in bringing the situation to a safe conclusion. What we know: • The suspect fled from a domestic dispute involving strangulation • Multiple vehicles (approx. five) were involved in the crash • The suspect was taken into custody This video highlights how coordination from the air, rapid response on the ground, and the courage of community members can make all the difference. On March 23, 2026, around 7:30 a.m., LVMPD officers responded to a violent incident near the 4900 block of West Craig Road involving a vehicle crashing into a business, followed by a stabbing and reported shooting.
