A loophole that’s been doing the rounds in the news today is that existing homeowners will be able to still negatively gear their properties by moving elsewhere and turning theirs into a rental. Not only does this create less incentive for people to sell their homes (in addition to stamp duty remaining as the biggest deterrent), it just flat out doesn’t make sense. Why should I be able to move into another home and massively negatively gear my recently redeveloped home after the changes? Grandfathering existing investment properties is one thing - but this loophole would create new negatively geared properties to the exclusive benefit of existing homeowners.

A public hearing was held into NDIS integrity yesterday - here’s what we know so far: - Almost $4bn was lost last year alone (but this is only a statistical estimate based on limited criminal investigations) - 90% of the smallest 1,000 plan managers showed indicators of fraud - Organised crime, both local and offshore, are harvesting NDIS packages and recycling the funds into other illegal activities - Some staff within the government agency have been involved in fraud - The scheme’s rollout was rushed, payment claims were largely unverified, and integrity resources were not commensurate with the scale of funding Here’s the NDIS integrity chief talking about how a lot of these issues have been seen in government programs before and continue to be repeated as new programs are setup. Has any politician or bureaucrat responsible for the setup and rollout ever been held accountable for the likely 10s of billions of dollars of losses? No. So how can we trust this will be cleaned up properly and future programs won’t be defrauded if there’s no accountability for the individuals involved? We can’t.

Albo blames misinformation for public reaction to the fuel crisis. He laments the days when information was centralised through the mainstream media. But he fails to acknowledge why people stopped trusting them. He ignores that they were exposed as unreliable arbiters of truth. The fact is credibility is hard to earn and easy to lose. Something he and his government would be wise to be remember.

There’s now 6 months of data since the 5% deposit scheme was expanded. It confirms what we knew what happen: Nationally, home values have risen at twice the rate below the scheme price caps as above it. In Melbourne and Sydney, home values have actually fallen above the price caps, but risen below them. In other states with positive growth overall, it’s amplified the rise in home values. This scheme has done what it was intended to do - push up house prices further.

Jacinta knows Trump is broadly disliked in Australia. She also knows the strain on families and increased demand for charities predates Trump’s war with Iran. But it’s an opportunity to dismiss Labor’s failures and blame it all on him anyway. This is the kind of populist politics Labor has the temerity to accuse others of. Thankfully, Victorians can see through her crocodile tears. She’ll remain the least popular state leader in the country and one of the least popular Victorian Premiers in history.

What Pauline lacks in nuance she makes up for with clarity: “Whether you’re born here or whether you migrated here, we’re all Australians who should be treated equally. That’s been my policy from Day 1, from 30 years ago. We must feel that we are Australians with the one culture, one goal and to live in peace and harmony.” If you can’t see how this is a message that resonates with Australians following escalating cultural division, endless protests and ethnically targeted assaults culminating in our worst ever terrorist attack, then you’ve got rocks in your head.

“Macquarie research produced a report today about the impact of AI on banking employment - looking at how good it’ll be for cost cutting and higher profits. The most likely base case, according to Macquarie, is 18% reduction in jobs, gradual adoption 9% and rapid adoption 30%. Now, there are 185,000 people employed by the banks - 18% of them is 33,000 and 30% is 56,000 people. But of course, Macquarie could be wrong.”

This is a shocking video from 2018. Whatever she may have said and however outspoken she may be - what she’s doing here isn’t breaking any laws. And yet the police are inferring that her mere presence would cause a breach of the peace - when really, they know she’d be attacked and that’d be inconvenient. The right thing to do would’ve been to safely escort her - to ensure that so long as she didn’t break any laws, nobody would hurt her. A true multicultural society enforces the law without fear or favour. This isn’t multiculturalism - this is enabling an enclave to live by its own rules.

Alan provides a summary of how this energy rich nation became dependent on other countries for fuel. 1. We stopped exploring for oil 2. We allowed our oil refineries to close There are detailed reasons for both of the above - but ultimately they were a series of choices, not an inevitability. And we’ve been the only country that’s consistently failed to meet our 90 days fuel reserve obligation for over a decade.

“Australia is a sensible nation.. We are centrists as Australians. And if you run off into la la land.. well then you find yourself running second to Pauline Hanson.” Sounds to me like Malcolm is saying Pauline is more centrist than the Liberals. Perhaps the first time I’ve ever agreed with the ex PM that never goes away.

This is what happens when leaders try to appease minorities for votes. Weakness invites disrespect – and trying to placate conflicting interests only fuels more radical demands. This incident isn't just embarrassing – it should be a turning point. Debate foreign policy - but do so peacefully and ensure it’s in the interests of Australia. We need leaders with the spine to put our country first, without compromise or apology.
