It’s been a month now since I started running a public Minecraft server from a $25 phone. Android hates being a server OS but it’s definitely possible with a few tweaks.

Can confirm 4 players connected to a minecraft server running on a $25 phone works surprisingly well.

The fact that you can just plug sensors into the VGA port of an old laptop and get data out is crazy to me. It’s always fun finding GPIO in strange places.

ClawPhone is alive. I installed OpenClaw on a $25 phone and gave it full access to the hardware. I haven’t explored everything yet, but it’s a cool formfactor for agents to run on.

I have had a lot of fun lately letting Claude fully control my old ThinkPad. This finally feels like the correct way to interact with computers, like something’s been missing this entire time until now. Give Claude a laptop to live in, you won’t regret it.

Sensors do indeed work over HDMI. GPIO is everywhere for those with the eyes to see.

I made an app this past weekend using a $30 android smartphone to send me notifications when my dryer was done drying. They sell these phones at a loss thinking you’re gonna buy a data plan, don’t do that. Instead use for DIY projects in place of a raspberry pi or esp32.

Using an HDMI breakout board I was able to run an external monitor and read sensor data at the same time over just the one HDMI port. Feels strange but it works.

You can get WiFi camera drones with BRUSHLESS motors now for under $50. Much better performance than the brushed motor variety which used to be all you could find in this category up until this year. I even tested flying one with a 50g payload onboard and it still flew great.

I gave ClawPhone a phone number so it could start texting people and turned it into an appointment scheduler. Agent-controlled hardware is definitely the future.

I spawned in 500 cows and flew around pretty fast and the minecraft server running on a $25 phone held up better than I expected.

update: full control achieved. Can now fully control (throttle, pitch, roll, yaw) one of the best selling “toy” drones on Amazon from a desktop client.
