Now that I have a fully functioning implementation of Roblox's FACS controls in Luau, I can finally do 400% facial expressions. I am unstoppable.

Since Roblox's Emote UGC validation is very vague about the requirements for emotes to pass, I looked into the actual validation code and created a test dummy suite that visually identifies and logs what its actually rejecting. #RobloxUGC #RobloxDev

Fun fact: There are still a few features in Roblox's ParticleEmitter system which aren't developer facing. Notably: - Non-uniform perspective scaling. - Color textures for defining particle color variation. - Alpha textures for providing precision beyond just an envelope.

I have a private toolchain that lets me load Roblox's dynamic heads into Blender, and yeah... they definitely used the Avatar Setup tool for a lot of these. The weight-painting and joint names seem very... automated.

roblox investors looking through the dynamic head catalog and seeing that 99% of the heads aren’t “expressive” enough.

The extents people have pushed that port I did of mario's sm64 physics to Roblox has reached heights I never could have dreamed of. I'm honestly super happy about it.

The reason Roblox characters have the face they do is because the procedural head mesh capsule Roblox generated at the time had squashed UV mapping, which vertically stretched the face texture.

Major improvements to the decal projector! Should be significantly more reliable on meshes, morphing actually works on primitive shapes properly now, better wrapping around sharp corners, performance improvements, etc.

Nevermind I found it. Holy shit its real. Roblox actually pulled off perfect occlusion culling.

I wanted to look into this more so I ripped the raw head geometry from a 2008 build of Roblox using data I pulled from RTX Remix and inspected. The end result? An attempt was made. There's an alternate universe where Roblox faces have big chins.

I got Roblox's move/rotate/resize tools running in a LocalScript. They're fully typechecked and use ReactLua as a rendering frontend.

Roblox's avatar settings allow you to pretty closely emulate R6 in R15 lol. still not 100% perfect yet, but definitely way better than before.

Roblox's occlusion culling is so mesmerizing to look at in wireframe mode. It just works... and it's instantaneous too. This is incredible technology.

Roblox's server authority beta is almost here! It prevents clientside hacks by making the server the final decider of what actually happened. You have to provide inputs that the server equally consumes or else the client will mispredict and rollback.

It took some major system rewrites but I'm starting to get the multigraph animation refactor of The Stalker 2's prototype up and running. I still have to figure out what's up with the jittering.
