If that reading is confirmed, Polo would become the second strongest hurricane ever recorded in the eastern Pacific, behind only Hurricane Patricia in 2015. Hurricane Isaias will be making landfall within the next 2 hours! The southern side of the eyewall has collapsed in recent radar imagery, but the northern side continues to look particularly nasty, likely producing wind gusts exceeding 100 mph from Pensacola to Santa Rosa Beach. Regardless of its appearance or category at landfall, this will be a dangerous system, with damaging winds, flooding, and tornadoes all possible well inland.

Hurricane Isaias will be making landfall within the next 2 hours! A total of 30 tornado warnings were issued across the Carolinas by 7 PM EDT Sunday, including 9 for observed tornadoes and two particularly dangerous situation (PDS) warnings. The threat has now wound down, but damage surveys are still needed to determine how many tornadoes occurred and how strong they were. At least five tornadoes had already been confirmed in central North Carolina by Sunday evening.
