The Chilean Wine Palm (Jubaea chilensis) is prized for its sweet sap formerly used to make wine and seeds which look like small coconuts. Darwin described these palms as being ugly trees (compared to other palms) as the trunks were of irregular diameter. #botany #plant #chile
