So my older daughter is participating in a six-week ballet intensive at a very prestigious company this summer and this is the kid they've paired her with in partnering class. He's amazing! (He has a very public insta account where his videos gets thousands of likes so I'm not sharing anything out of turn here.) But as I think about the Kennedy Center it occurs to me how sad it is that so many of the great arts are coded as girly or gay. It's a shame. Because these are great performers. Clearly very masculine performers. And many of them ARE quietly conservative--especially those whose families come from Eastern European countries where ballet is popular. Conservatives have to stop treating the arts as the domain of liberals. Make ballet great again!

A friend flagged for me that McLean Bible (David Platt's church) did talk about Charlie Kirk this week. And while pastor Mike Kelsey strongly denounced his murder and those celebrating it (good), he went on to use Charlie as a negative example of how Christians engage unbelievers, citing Charlie as someone whose speech "dishonors" God. Kelsey also cited Charlie as someone who treated immigrants in "ignorant and derogatory ways." Kelsey did not offer any examples of what he meant by either of these things.

Oh my gosh you guys, for YEARS my husband has been tormenting me and our daughters with the Double Dutch Bus song. It's a favorite from his childhood and he does that dad thing where he obnoxiously turns it up in the car and car dances while the rest of us look away in extreme secondhand embarrassment. But his moment has come at last. Thanks to this video Double Dutch Bus is now a viral dance challenge on Instagram and TikTok and it's playing everywhere. Hubs was waaaaay ahead of the game. 😂

I can think of no public figure whose work has meant more to me than John MacArthur's. I can think of no ministry that has shaped my life in greater ways than Grace to You. Like millions of other Christians around the world, his daily teaching became the backdrop of mundane domestic tasks, long car rides, and sleepless nights. His books, the first resources I turned to when dealing with a crisis or trial in my life. To be quite frank, this feels a little like losing a father. I had the joy to interview and correspond with him on occasion, and when he heard I had cancer, he sent me a message of great encouragement. I cannot help but feel we have seen the last of the great lions pass out of the world. But I know, as Pastor John taught me, that the Lord does not leave himself without a witness. And He will raise up more teachers like Johnny Mac, as his dear friend, RC Sproul, another of the great lions, used to call him. And on that note, I smile to imagine the two of them reunited. His adherence to sound doctrine never wavered. Whether preaching from his pulpit or on the set with Larry King, he never watered down the truth of Scripture. I thank you Lord so much for his legacy and that he now has the full joy of his salvation. Well done, good and faithful servant.

I'm so sorry that your spiritual leadership abdicated their responsibility to speak God's truth to hurting people, Michelle. A friend texted me this morning, demoralized that the pastor of his church of 12 years did not mention Charlie's assassination at all either. I was grateful to be in a church this morning where our pastor was not so reticent to teach that the Bible is relevant to the pain and horror the nation is experiencing at Charlie's death. At Iryna Zarutska's death. I was grateful that my children and some guests with us were able to hear that. The Bible is not a dead text. It is living and sharper than any two-edged sword. We can't be afraid to wield it in the darkest moments. Especially in the darkest moments.

My sweet girl, 16 years old, asked me before our town's prayer vigil in Charlie's honor if she could say a few words on behalf of the high schoolers who would be in attendance. I was surprised (she's never shown any interest in public speaking before). But I was also touched. She loved Charlie's boldness and his sharp arguments. She, like so many young people, has been deeply effected by his death. And as I watched her, I was thankful again for the impact his ministry (yes ministry) has had on the next generation. Thank you Charlie for all you did to model the life choices and values my husband and I have worked so hard to impart to our children. They are indeed your legacy.

Hey Tim, if you oppose political violence why were you happy to share a stage with Hasan Piker, a man who called for "capitalist blood to run in the street"? And said of assassinating Trump, "Someone's gotta do it"? And said of Rick Scott, "If Republicans truly cared about Medicare fraud, they would kill Rick Scott"? And suggested Americans shouldn't have sympathy for murder victim Brian Thompson because "Brian Thompson, as the UnitedHealthcare CEO, was engaging in a tremendous amount of social murder"? And why, when your colleagues said he is an unacceptable coalition partner, did you argue FOR keeping him in your "tent," describing him as just like Joe Rogan, a "guy with some bad opinions"? Why did you excuse this violent language of his by saying it's just because he "talks for eight hours a day"? Why did you flippantly dismiss this rhetoric as "impure thoughts"? Why did you suggest that these comments are less offensive than "what you hear from MAGA"? That doesn't comport with someone who really opposes political violence.

They do not all believe what we believe. This is a strategy." He does then call out the left for their pro-abortion policies, which he calls "morally reprehensible." BUT the overall upshot of his sermon recycles the old "both sides are bad." He specifically stresses that he does not trust Trump. Where does that leave his congregation? Likely sitting out or voting third party. He leaves his hearer with the impression that the two sides are moral equivalents. It is true that prior to the 1970s, Republicans did not view the sanctity of life as part of their platform. But a generation of Christians labored and prayed and strategized and lobbied to try to get one of the major political parties to take up their cause. These were faithful brothers and sisters following Scripture's commands to "rescue those being led away to death" and to "take up the cause of fatherless and oppressed." In peddling this false left-wing narrative, Chandler is dismissing their efforts and sacrifices. In fact, I'd go so far as to say he is spitting on their legacy. The work of politics is to use the leverage you have as a voting constituency to get legislators to take up your preferred policies. There is nothing dirty or sneaky in that. It is what the political process is. We should celebrate the fact that Christian pro-lifers of a previous generation did so so successfully with the GOP. We should not denigrate their work. And remember--for decades these pro-lifers tried to get Democrats to take up their cause too and failed. That is to the Democrats' shame. Enjoyed a spirited debate with Brad Polumbo and Luke Beasley about the question of professional sports leagues continuing to endorse and promote LGBTQ activism through its Pride events, even as the issue has become increasingly unpopular among Americans. The conversation DID take an unexpected turn (at least unexpected by me) to Lawrence v Texas and the legitimacy of sodomy laws. But hey, when someone asks me a question, I will always respond honestly! So you get to hear my honest thoughts on whether a government can legitimately outlaw this kind of same-sex sexual behavior. Sparks definitely flew and my style is never ironic detachment but passion and conviction, and that was certainly the case here! I appreciate Brad for willing to have a civil forum and hear me out on issues that are obviously very personal for him. Hope you'll give the full debate a watch!

Wow, Acts 29 losing Acts 29 57% of their US churches is astonishing. For those who aren't familiar, Acts 29 is a major evangelical church-planting network and it has heavily pushed wokeness for years. It's been a driving force for bringing CRT into the church. Executive Chairman, Matt Chandler (who is also an influential contributor to The Gospel Coalition and a mega-church pastor) made this video a few years ago. It is good news that his and his network's influence is waning. We need more churches, but they must be sound churches, not swayed by every wind of trendy doctrine.

Notice what David French never references in his willingness to treat Talarico as a true Christian brother. And that is what scripture says. Talarico says God is nonbinary and has denied the exclusivity of Christ as the only means to eternal life.
