"Peter Edochie is not the oldest man in Nollywood, as he is parading himself and deceiving others. I have been in Nollywood longer than him, though he is older than me in age. I laugh at most of my colleagues in the South-East because none of them studied theatre arts." — Veteran actor Bob Manuel confirms exactly Yemi Sholade's statement. If we don’t kill bigotry, it will kill us. It’s crazy how a Yoruba man can’t even speak his own truth without being tagged or called all sorts of names. SMH.

Look at who Obidiots claimed was a foreigner that Anthony Joshua brought to Nigeria, and that “Nigeria happened to him.” Someone whose last name is Ayodele, someone who always comes to his country and is always excited to be here. It will never be well with propagandists. I just wish these boys didn’t die. I wish they were only injured; I would have ignored all of this. I’m only speaking up because innocent lives were lost. But it is well,it is the will of God. Without God, nothing can happen. Even if you are involved in a fatal accident, you can come out without a scratch if it is not God’s will for you to go.

This is not India. This is not Bangladesh. This is not the DRC Congo. This is Lagos, under the leadership of Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu. This is what Lagos has turned into. But I have a question. If a city generates the highest IGR, it should be well maintained so that it can even generate more. Or is there another reason for this? I mean, for people who are seeking re-election, is this the way a city should be maintained? A city of 21 million people, with 18 million people actively online according to StatiSense. Do you think this is the way to manage such a place? Or is the government not interested in being re-elected? Because this looks deliberate at this point. It's gross neglect from people who want to be re-elected. I don't understand how it plays out. Maybe somebody can put me through. Imagine if Fashola or Ambode had grossly neglected the environment like this. Do you think the current administrators would have stood a chance? Or is the current administration working against the APC in Lagos? These are real questions that need answers. First and foremost, if you look at the President, you will see that he's trying his best, investing in his re-election by doing roads and projects all over the country, trying to carry all states along, at least making an effort just to gain the trust of Nigerians. But this current administration is not even making an effort. Or are they working for the opposition? Or where will the manufacture supporters the same ones they are neglecting? If a whole President can be hustling his re-election how on earth is governorship neglecting the environment and by proxy the people? Because how can a very key road be neglected like this? So, this administration doesn't budget for road maintenance, especially on its key strategic corridors? Even if the President loses Lagos, he has the other 35 states and the FCT to hope on. For someone who benefited immensely from the goodwill of the Fashola and Ambode administrations, is this the best legacy/impressions to leave for his successor? To make his intending successor look incompetent? APC Lagos has produced some of the best and most forward-thinking politicians in the country in the past, so why the current deliberate neglect of the same city that APC laboured to build? Do you know how much this puts the intending governor in a bad light? If you notice, the current opposition candidates are no longer bothering to campaign because what's there to campaign? The current governor is already helping them do the job. Mind you, they are no pushovers. They are preparing very well for the upcoming elections, and they are also very much in touch with the grassroots. This is very sad to see. If the current government had nailed the environment and other visible sectors, they would literally have had no contenders, especially considering that all the politicians APC has produced in Lagos over the years were top men. Next year's election will be really tough because people are frustrated, and it's looking deliberate. Even the worst opposition candidate on the ballot may not be able to attract big investments, but at least they may be able to keep the surroundings clean, build more roads, and do the basic things. That's when you'll know that a place like Lagos just needs environmental maintenance, because it already has almost everything it needs. This current administration needs to change its mentality and do better. This is the same city where one leader would not even allow you to trade on the walkway, another did a lot of beautification works, while the current one has just brazenly neglected it and allowed street trading even destroy it. Different leaders, different ideologies. This is so disappointing. The government has sent Public Works to Ozumba Mbadiwe to patch the road instead of giving it to Julius Berger, Craneburg, Lubrik, or any other reputable contractor to fix it once and for all. With the billions we generate in IGR, we can comfortably construct or comprehensively rehabilitate one major state road every month. I didn't say every year,I said every month. In eight years, that would amount to hundreds of kms of major roads across the state, while the government could still build flyovers, bridges, and interchanges. That is why I keep saying we are being deliberately denied a good road network. This is not a federal problem; it is a Lagos State problem. Go and verify my statement. Even some of the poorest states in Nigeria, with IGRs of just ₦2–₦3 billion, are constructing quality roads. Some Lagosians are richer than some states, yet Lagos is the one without a proper road network. The painful part is that fixing roads is the most basic responsibility of any government. Even a decent guy with no connections, no big portfolio, no influence, and no experience attracting investments could still overhaul the road network of Lagos. He may not build rail lines, seaports, or free trade zones, but he can at least give residents good roads. Look at Lagos today. The skyscrapers, high-rise buildings, and beautiful developments are already there. What is missing is a road network that matches the city. Good roads would completely transform the appearance of Lagos and bring out its beauty. This is not a long-standing Lagos problem. It is a problem of this particular administration. For reasons I still cannot understand, they have deliberately allowed the roads to deteriorate. Instead of comprehensive reconstruction, all we see is patching. We can afford better. One major road every month is achievable with Lagos' revenue. So why are we still patching roads instead of rebuilding them properly? I genuinely hope the government explains why we are deliberately denied the quality road network this city deserves by now.🥺 Babajide Sanwo-Olu Obafemi Hamzat Damilola Sonayon James Seyi Tinubu ENIOLA BADMUS I am Dayo Amusa Lagos Min of the Environment and Water Resources The Lagos State Govt LASEPA Oluwaseun Osiyemi Tokunbo Wahab Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Funke Akindele 📷: Patching of Ozumba Mbadiwe highway as opposed to total overhaul that is required to increase the beauty of the area.
