📽️ A powerful moment from our recent school visit with Lewis Hamilton, where we sat down with our partners and young people they support for an important conversation about the work being done to build a more inclusive education system. We were delighted to hear from Milk Honey Bees🐝 founder Ebinehita Iyere and student Liliana about the impact of the H.E.R. Space Programme, which is creating more inclusive environments in schools and we are proud to support. Yamina B, Project Lead for the Increasing Diversity in ITT project, delivered in partnership with Angela Browne - #BeingLuminary, Chartered College of Teaching and Chiltern Learning Trust - Bedfordshire, also shared impactful updates on the progress of our work to transform teacher recruitment practices. 🤝 In 2022, we started working with CAPE Mentors, a grassroots tuition and mentoring charity led by Hussein Hussein. 📈 Since then, CAPE has grown from one staff member to eight and is supporting many more young people across London to thrive in school and reach their full potential. 1️⃣ year ago today we launched our first-ever campaign, Nothing Happens in Isolation, calling for urgent Government action to address record numbers of school exclusions and build a more inclusive education system. Campaign highlights from the past 12 months include: ✅ Securing three government policy commitments after a roundtable at UK Prime Minister with the Prime Minister and our Founder Lewis Hamilton 🏆 Working with Coram on a historic legal aid victory for families challenging unfair school exclusions 📚 Launching 'Ambitious About Inclusion' events nationwide with Centre for Young Lives, bringing together educators, policymakers and young people 🗣️ Leading a sector-wide call for inclusive education reform with over 25 organisations including Teach First, Oasis Academies, Chartered College of Teaching and The Children's Society 📈 Published new research with Public First and new reports on the issue of lost learning with @TheDifferenceEd, Impetus and IPPR We’re now working with the UK Government to build a national framework for inclusive practice in schools, amplify the voices of young people and support teachers from underrepresented backgrounds into the classroom. We know there is much more to do. Our dedication to advocating for a truly inclusive education system continues - and we won’t stop until every young learner is supported to thrive. In 2020, at the Formula 1 Styrian Grand Prix, Stephanie Travers became the first black woman to stand on the Formula 1 podium. As Trackside Fluid Engineer for Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, Steph was responsible for analysing all fluids within the car over a race weekend. To celebrate #NationalEngineeringDay, we spoke to Steph about what inspired her to pursue engineering, that special moment with Lewis Hamilton, and the work we're is doing to drive change and inspire the next generation of talented engineers from around the world. "I'm finally getting to where I always dreamt of being." 💫 We're so excited for Motorsport Scholars, Laila and Nevin, who have both secured graduate roles at Mercedes F1 Team. We launched the Motorsport Scholarship programme, with the support of Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and Royal Academy of Engineering, to accelerate the careers of talented students from Black and mixed Black backgrounds, and it's amazing to see the impact the scholarships are already having. We can't wait to see everything Laila and Nevin go on to achieve in the future 💜
