I met with the Heads of Nursery and Primary Schools across Agege to review progress and strengthen our shared commitment to quality education. So far, we have renovated 17 schools, established 5 school libraries, and delivered essential learning tools, including 1,800 twin desks, 400 ECC furniture, 72 teacher furniture, and 92 marker boards. We are also in the process of procuring 75 computers to expand digital learning. Beyond infrastructure, we are investing in people and safety, with the recruitment of 50 primary school teachers and school support staff, deployment of security personnel, and ongoing plans to install CCTV systems in schools. We’ve also improved learning environments with 2 seven-aside pitches and connected 5 school compounds to the power grid. Our discussions focused on improving the quality of education, increasing school maintenance support, expanding facilities, and ensuring inclusive learning for special needs students alongside skill acquisition opportunities. Education remains a top priority, because the future of Agege is sitting in our classrooms today. #agege #avo #avoisworking #anewagegeisrising

Transforming Education from the Ground Up. Today, we took another important step in transforming education from the ground up. In partnership with eight universities, we launched the construction of three quality pre-primary schools in Buno Bedele Zone of Oromia Region, with an investment of ETB 43.5 million through the Summer Volunteer Service Program. We also planted seedlings and delivered educational materials for 1,000 students. These are more than school buildings. They are investments in our children, their learning, and the future they will shape. Once completed, these schools will provide young children with a strong foundation on which to build their lives. We extend our sincere gratitude to the people and administration of Buno Bedele for the warm welcome and generous hospitality. The transformation underway in pre-primary education is fundamental to improving the quality of our entire education system. Imagine the change if every child through out Ethiopia gets such opportunity, & it is possible if we work hard and prioritise. In the last five years, more than 34,000 have been built. Yet we need more to cover everyone. Hence let us join hands to build a strong foundation for every child and a better future for our education system.

A new year brings feelings of hope and change. This coming year, we pray that Palestine is liberated, and that we have sovereignty over our land. A big part of indigenous sovereignty is our connection to our land. For Palestinian communities to build our own food and agricultural systems, and to put the farmers and consumers over markets and external control. In collaboration with our partners, Arab Protection for Nature, The Sameer Project invested in a local agricultural project growing 20 donoms of wheat. This can yield into 6-8 tons of wheat. The project was done on farmland in the Masdar area, Central Gaza, and cost us $5,450, which includes 9% commission. With hopes of entering the second phase of the ceasefire that will hopefully bring more stability and predictability, The Sameer Project is looking to collaborate more with APN on sustainable projects. I met today with Latvia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže. I presented her with the Order of Merit, II class, for her significant personal contribution to strengthening our cooperation and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. I am grateful for all the assistance to our people, for the visit, and especially for her trip to Chernihiv. It is extremely important for us when partners personally visit such places and support the reconstruction of our schools and kindergartens. We discussed defense support. We value Latvia’s contribution to the PURL initiative. We also spoke about the possibilities of using the SAFE mechanism and the prospects for joint weapons production. Latvia is a leader in the Drone Coalition. This year, it has supplied Ukraine with about 12,000 drones, and this is vital support for our defense. We also focused on the diplomatic situation. Our positions are aligned – the sanctions pressure on Russia must be increased, and the relevant work with partners must continue. Latvia stands with us and will continue to do so. I am grateful for the unwavering support for Ukraine.

Today, we are preparing to work with our partners throughout the week, particularly with our European allies who support us in a principled and effective manner. We have established a new format of cooperation—Ukraine plus the countries of Northern Europe. Within this framework, we are strengthening our collaboration in defense, politics, and economics. At the core of this partnership is our shared values. We envision a Europe that we want to pass on to future generations—one that is undeniably safe, democratic, and capable of protecting the interests of Europeans. I am grateful to each country in this format: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. We expect support from all our partners for the Victory Plan. They all understand the importance of being resolute and the necessity of creating challenges for the aggressor, so that Russia loses the ability to disrupt global stability. We will discuss with our Nordic partners new principled steps that can intensify pressure on Russia over this war and for the sake of honest diplomacy. Therefore, next week, we anticipate more diplomatic news and new packages of support for Ukraine.
