I remember the first day I mentioned #BlackTwitter in a meeting (at Columbia records), and my boss said “That’s not really a thing, though.” A few months later I came across a whole study about the phenomena of the BT community (nobody could figure out how to crack it, because topics and trends didn’t follow any predictive formula) and sent it to him. And then outlets started culling content, shows started capitalizing on the community live watch, lexicon was created, voices grew, and movements happened. #BlackTwitter changed my life. That’s not an overstatement. It changed my career trajectory. Tweeps became real life friends and colleagues. Folks still don’t understand that the secret sauce of #BlackTwitter was the PEOPLE. Period. This is the story of the people. Of the jokes. Of the movements. Of that community. Now streaming on Hulu

I don't agree with Steve Harvey often (ever), but I know he been on her line like "I told yo' ass... didn't I tell yo' ass? Now look."

I love watching Tyler James Williams interviews bc he stays dropping GEMS (this one from #CultureCon). This is the realest thing I'll probably post this week, and I preach this to my students ALL THE TIME. This is the lowest point of risk, the lowest stakes, they will ever have in their career. If they're too scared to be vulnerable NOW, how will they ever know what works for them? People want an out-of-the-box career, pre-fab, just assemble and go. They want to get to the finish line in 10 steps or less. It don't work like that - and shouldn't! The honing of craft, the growth, the development, that all comes before you "arrive." You need it to get there.

Found 'em. This is just two of several over two days (this was during a weekend and I told them they'd have to just see what would happen on Monday), but they're all pretty much the same.

Tisha Campbell paid for Gabrielle Union to go to therapy early in her career because "I want my sisters to win." What an incredible gift from seasoned vet to someone getting their feet under them. (Also, the ladies look AMAZING.)
