SAYERS FAMILY ATTACKS REVEALED BEFORE BYKER CLASH FIRE ATTACKS. RAMMINGS. MASKED MEN. A GRAVE VANDALISED. A jury has heard details of a series of alleged attacks on the Sayers family before an explosive street clash in Byker. Stephen Sayers, his two sons and three other men deny violent disorder after a Ford Ranger allegedly linked to the Freeman organised crime group pulled up outside The Road bar. CCTV shows the pickup mounting the kerb towards people outside before being confronted — with objects thrown as the vehicle reverses away. The jury was told police had been aware since 2022 of a “violent campaign” involving the Sayers family and people allegedly associated with the Freeman group. Jurors heard allegations including homes and businesses being attacked, cars and vans being torched, a tipper truck being driven into a house, a Range Rover being rammed into a property and the grave of the Sayers brothers’ mother being vandalised. The court was also shown footage of several of the alleged attacks. All six defendants deny violent disorder. THE TRIAL CONTINUES.

CRAZY DRIVER JAILED AFTER MOWING DOWN THREE PEDESTRIANS A dangerous driver who mounted the pavement and ploughed into three pedestrians has been jailed after a shocking campaign of offending. Joseph Wicks, 27, drove a Fiat 500 recklessly around Colchester in the early hours of 30 November, travelling the wrong way down one-way streets, running red lights and narrowly missing people as he tore through the city. He then mounted the pavement on Queen Street outside a nightclub, striking three people, before abandoning the car and fleeing. Months later, Wicks was still on the run when his behaviour escalated into a campaign of stalking and harassment. Armed officers eventually tracked him to a Colchester property after a report that he had been seen with a metal baseball bat and what appeared to be a handgun. When officers stormed the address, several people claimed they had not seen Wicks. But after a thorough search, police found the fugitive cowering underneath an Ottoman bed. Wicks admitted a string of offences including dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police, multiple assaults, stalking, threatening communications and criminal damage. He was jailed for four years and six months and banned from driving for a further two years and six months. Thankfully, none of the three pedestrians suffered serious injuries.

MAN CONVICTED OF MURDERING PARTNER A controlling Birmingham man has been convicted of murdering his partner after a two-year campaign of coercion and violence. Ismail Younis was found dead at Imran Uddin’s home in Hockley on 20 August, three days after he vanished. Police say the relationship started well, then Uddin took over — dictating Ismail’s clothes, looks and phone. He mocked Ismail’s autism and regularly assaulted him to keep him in line. Hours before he was killed, Ismail said he wanted out. He had found proof Uddin was cheating. On 17 August CCTV showed Uddin trailing him around Birmingham city centre, turning up at his workplace again and again, until Ismail was last seen on Uddin’s scooter heading to Richmond Road. There Uddin strangled him, then stabbed him repeatedly even after he was dead. The body was not found until the 20th. Uddin caught a train from New Street to family in Milton Keynes. The next day he got a haircut, had his eyebrows threaded and grabbed some food — as if nothing had happened. Conviction first. Sentence still to come. The grooming appointment will not look as clever in the dock.

ROYAL MAIL WORKER JAILED AFTER SKIMMING DRUG PARCELS AND STASHING £1.2M CASH A Slough Royal Mail worker has been locked up after using his sorting-office job to nick suspected cannabis parcels and cash in. Amjad Ali, 50, of Olivia Drive, Slough, got six years and nine months at Reading Crown Court today (3 September). He had already admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis, theft of parcels, possessing criminal property and having an offensive weapon in a private place. Cops from Thames Valley’s Berkshire East Disruptions Team hit his home, car and a storage locker on 12 December last year. In the locker: £1,185,420 in cash. At home: another £42,290. Charged the next day. The trick was simple. At the Slough logistics centre Ali spotted parcels likely to be X-rayed for drugs, lifted them, and relabelled them to other addresses — including his own. He did it again and again from 2024 into 2025. The mountain of cash is said to be from selling the cannabis on. PC Filippo Brancato called it the force’s biggest cash seizure and said the money grabbed under proceeds of crime laws will go back into policing. He thought he’d found a goldmine in the mailbags. Court says otherwise.
