They Buy Our Coffee Cheap. They Sell It for Billions. In 2021, Italy bought $178M of Uganda’s coffee as raw beans. They processed it and made billions. Two companies, Illy and Lavazza, earn over $52B yearly from coffee. The problem isn’t markets. It’s value addition. #CoffeeEconomy #ValueAddition #UgandaCoffee

We have come too far to let anger replace answers. Uganda has built roads, factories, schools, hospitals, airports, power lines, and markets that connect us to the world. These gains were not a gift. They are the result of patience, peace, discipline, and the resilience of ordinary Ugandans. Now is the time to protect what we have built. Not to tear it down. Protect the gains. Protect Uganda’s tomorrow. #ProtectTheGains #Uganda #FutureForward

How Political Parties Really Emerge | Political parties do not begin with individuals. They are built around shared interests, shared threats, and a common national purpose. This reflection explains how history shaped political movements, from France to Uganda, and why national interest must always be bigger than narrow personal ambition.

In the book of Numbers, chapter 23-24, someone hired a mercenary to insult and curse the people of God because the purchaser of the cursing service was “scared of the strength of the people of God”. The cursor ended up being a blesser! Do not worry about people who don’t know their purpose. They will end up serving God’s purpose bizarrely Leadership is a calling. It takes courage to step forward, wisdom to consult others, and strength to fail publicly and rise again. Not everyone who talks can lead.

I read many comments on my previous post, and I hope this can provide context. Uganda is steadily exiting the old trap of exporting raw produce and importing back value. Coffee is showing us the way. From farming communities across Uganda, green Arabica and Robusta are sourced directly, assessed at arrival, and profiled to meet export market standards. Under the supervision of a roast master, each batch is roasted to a client-specific recipe, cooled, rested, and then cupped. Only coffee scoring 82 and above makes it to the export client. For Serbia, the order is prepared in the format the consumer understands (their specific taste Profile): roasted beans for cafés and grinders, and a fine grind powder for home use. It is then packed for retail in 200–250g sizes, with 1kg packs serving hospitality and Uganda Connect coffee hubs. Before loading, the Uganda Coffee Development Authority/MAAIF provides third-party quality assessment, issues certificates of quality and origin, and only then does the container seal and the journey begin. This is what industrialisation looks like at origin: jobs, standards, consistency, and better incomes for the farmer and the nation. #CoffeeEconomy #ValueAddition #UgandaCoffee

📍Makerere University, I reflected on the life and legacy of Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile through three stages that define lasting leadership: the maker, the marker, and the multiplier. Nations are built when individuals stand for principle, shape institutions, and leave behind ideas that inspire the next generation. Uganda needs to keep honouring those who served with merit, distinction, and vision.

📍Mbale "Uganda’s future is built on clear foundations: production, jobs, strong systems, and stability." True development does not begin with speeches. It begins on the farm, in factories, in businesses, and in disciplined leadership. This message explains why protecting what we have achieved is critical, and why the Next Leap must focus on real economic transformation, manufacturing, and opportunities for our people. A strong system, guided leadership, and empowered citizens remain the pillars of national progress.

If Uganda gets this right, we do not just build bikes. We build frames, plastics, tyres, battery casings, electrical parts, and the technical human capital to support them. That is how jobs grow. That is how local industry deepens. That is how a country moves from consumption to production.

“Reconciliation is the Highest Form of Leadership.” I reflect on lessons from President Yoweri K Museveni and Mzee Chris Rwakasisi, a powerful reminder that forgiveness and prayer build stronger nations than vengeance ever could. #Leadership #Forgiveness #Reconciliation #Museveni #Rwakasisi #FatCatsAndAfricanFarmers

"Building markets. Raising standards. Creating opportunity" From Kampala to Washington, D.C., Uganda is taking deliberate steps to grow exports, attract investment, and position our country as a reliable global trading partner. Through the four–pillar model of markets, standards and compliance, infrastructure, and financing, we are opening doors for Ugandan businesses and entrepreneurs. The United States & other developed markets of the West are great tools for Uganda to learn how to compete in a difficult and rapidly changing protectionist world. With one of the largest consumer markets in the world and trillions of dollars in annual imports, access to the USA creates unmatched opportunities for our farmers, manufacturers, and innovators. Presence in this market is not optional. It is essential for real economic transformation. This journey is about strategy, partnerships, and long-term impact. It is about turning Uganda’s agricultural strength, creativity, and innovation into real economic value. Uganda is open for business. And the USA is a critical bridge to our global future. 👀

☕ Uganda makes $170M from coffee sales to Italy, while Italy makes $10B from the same coffee. Why? They control the roasting and distribution. 💡 Time to process and export finished products. #ValueAddition 🔥 Six European countries control 100% of global coffee roasteries. It’s time for Uganda to roast, package, and sell our coffee. #TradeJustice 💡 $10B vs. $170M. Uganda’s coffee trade needs a major shift. We grow it. We should profit from it. #UgandaCoffee

“AGOA is back on the table for Africa, and Uganda’s door is opening”. 🇺🇬🇺🇸 After Uganda’s suspension on 1 Jan 2024, we’ve maintained sustained engagement with U.S. senators, congressmen, and key offices to reopen the window, starting with one year, with a pathway of up to three years. This matters because AGOA is jobs: exporters here, and small businesses in the U.S. that rely on Africa-linked supply chains (coffee, food, tourism, textiles, etc.). Now the focus is clear: fix what caused the setback, protect the access, and grow value addition and standards so this opportunity becomes durable. The door is open again. Now we must make it permanent."

"Economic growth does not happen by accident. It is built through deliberate action, strong infrastructure, manufacturing, and export-driven leadership. Uganda must turn raw materials into finished products if we are to create jobs, grow incomes, and compete globally. The future belongs to leaders who think beyond elections and plan for generations."
