Today in the Senate of Kenya, I will substantiate how public money is being hidden and stolen in plain sight through budget lines labelled “Other Operating Expenses.” OVER 90 BILLION! If salaries, utilities, travel, maintenance, fuel, training, procurable items, and other expenditures already have specific vote heads, what exactly is hidden under this vague and ever-expanding category? Even more troubling, the Constitution requires parliamentary approval for all public borrowing. Yet billions are spent under opaque budget lines that escape meaningful scrutiny. Kenyans deserve transparency, not blank cheques for wastage, mismanagement, and theft. Every shilling collected from taxpayers must be traceable, justified, and accounted for. The era of hiding public funds behind vague budget descriptions must come to an end. STAY TUNED

Out of the KSh 7.1 billion allocated to Busia County in the 2022/23 financial year, KSh 5.2 billion vanished in plain sight. Nothing to show. No services delivered. Just opulence for a few and suffering for the people. This is theft. This is injustice. This must end.

Today at the Senate of Kenya , I tabled 93 official documents proving that since 2014, trillions have been borrowed outside Parliament’s approval. Under Ruto’s 4 years, Ksh 4.8T was borrowed unconstitutionally more than Uhuru’s 8 years. Oversight is not optional; it is constitutional. #OdiousDebt #DeniBandia #PublicFinance

We’re at KNH with Jonah Kariuki whose son Boniface Mwangi Kariuki was brutally shot by a rogue police force at close range yesterday while hawking face masks along Moi Avenue during the #JusticeForAlbertOjwang protest. Boniface Mwangi Kariuki is alive but fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit at the KNH. We pray for a speedy recovery for Boniface and all the other Kenyans who were injured yesterday and regret the damage to property that was occasioned by the lawlessness sanctioned and sponsored by rogue state agents. Justice be our shield and defender.

Yesterday in the Senate, I also submitted a Statement seeking answers on an unexplained withdrawal of KSH 19.7 BILLION from the consolidated fund in January 2025, under the vote item “State Officers’ Salaries, Allowances and Miscellaneous.” The budget for that entire item was KSH 4.2 BILLION for the whole year, yet over KSH 19 BILLION was moved in a single month. This figure far exceeds the monthly average of 287 MILLION, and no lawful justification has been provided. I’ve demanded full disclosure of who received the funds, who approved the excess withdrawal, whether due process was followed under the Constitution and Public Finance Management Act and what corrective action has been taken. Public finance must be sacred. The Kenyan people deserve honesty, transparency, discipline, and truth in the handling of every coin. Accountability without fear or favour. #REKE

I advised President William Ruto in 2023 during a prayer service in Busia that I was going to court to reject the Finance Bill 2023 and the Housing Levy. 1 year later after the Bill turned into the Finance Act 2023, the court of appeal has today declared it unconstitutional.

Affordable houses are being built on public land and therefore it is ILLEGAL to sell them to private individuals. When power changes, we will RECOVER those houses and give them back to the public. No Kenyan should waste his money buying those houses.

Today, I officially submitted a Request for a Statement in the Senate seeking urgent answers on why a key KPC gas facility was handed over to a Nigerian firm, Asharami Synergy. This 30,000-tonne LPG project was meant to lower gas for Kenyans; yet KPC was sidelined after spending KSh 192 million in public funds. Who approved this deal? Was due process followed? We demand transparency and protection of our public assets.

Yesterday, I presented a petition to the Senate to protect a groundbreaking Kenyan innovation: the New Generation Muthea Antivenom, developed in Wamunyu, Machakos. This life-saving remedy, which uses no animal plasma, has successfully treated snake bites for over a century, with zero recorded fatalities. Yet, instead of receiving support, its local developers are facing harassment, intimidation, and attempts to hijack their intellectual property. They’ve endured coercive demands to surrender their patent and formula, threats and legal intimidation from shadowy figures with vested interests, delays and sabotage by public officials using red tape to stall approvals, smear campaigns to discredit their work and deny them support and the financial exclusion from grants and recognition meant for innovators. The petition seeks to ensure the innovators’ rights are protected, investigate misconduct by public officials, suspend any officials found to be obstructing justice and establish national protections and policy for indigenous innovation. This isn’t just about one product. It’s about how we treat innovation in Kenya. Kenya must be a country where bold ideas are nurtured; not stifled. Where innovators are empowered; not extorted. A country that stifles its innovators is one that kills its own future. Let’s build a Kenya where innovation, justice, and integrity win, every time.

Removing Ruto is not enough. We must offer Kenya a way out, and a way up. That’s why I speak with clarity and conviction. Not just to oppose, but to restore. I’ve seen no agenda that matches the depth, scale, and urgency of what I’m building. This is about laying the Republic’s foundation anew. We are here to begin again; and begin right. #REKE
