🚨 ANTICIPATION when defending in FC26 Diogo Pombo showed some great examples of this last night after conceding only the 2nd least amount of goals in his group. With the overloads the 4411 and 451 formations provide combined with tiki taka and passing in general, it’s impossible to cover every passing lane into the box in FC26. But being able to read and anticipate when the opponent is going to shoot and to position the defender accordingly for a block is the key to conceding less goals.

Flick the RS in the direction you want Levi de Weerd shows a perfect example here of how to attack space with the directional run here. He first sends his winger on a run in behind then player locks to drop the ST deep. His opponent reacts well by tracking the run but he also holds R1 to 2nd man press the ball, leaving space in behind the CB, where Levi will flick the RS for the winger to take that space inside. First time through ball with Vitinha and it’s an easy 1v1 with the GK. This also work really well when you trigger a central player like a ST or CAM to make a diagonal run into space out wide.
