Chase Burns in 9 career starts: 64 strikeouts 100 batters reached a 2-strike count No starter has ever approached that rate (64%) over a full season. Burns is popping front-line closer stuff for 5+ innings. Dream on it.

Wander Franco was so precocious that the Rays gave him $182 million at 20 with 70 big-league games under his belt. The fact that they're in the World Series -- while he remains on the restricted list -- is a testament to their fortitude.

Sal Stewart has accounted for 19.1% of Reds' RBI, the highest % for a 22-or-younger player since Johnny Bench in 1970. He deploys an A, B & C swing to hunt them.

Yankees SS have combined for -194 defensive runs saved, fewest by any team at any infield position (stat dates to 2003). George Lombard Jr., whose glove I'm comping to Troy Tulowitzki's, is the anomaly.

Wilyer Abreu (25 DRS) and Ceddanne Rafaela (20 DRS) would be the first tandem since Bobby Grich and Mark Belanger (1973 Orioles) to rank as the majors’ two best defenders in a season. No outfield tandem has ever done it.

Ethan Salas, yet to face a pitcher younger than he is as a professional (at any level), might well become the youngest player to catch a postseason game.

The challenge system would be greatly enhanced by adding safe/out under its umbrella. What happens on the field should be decided by the characters on the field. Player vs umpire, in real time.
