2028 RHP/INF Chase Martin Chase Martin (Padua Bruins Baseball) FB: 85-88, T88.8 CB: 71-73 SL: 74-76 CH: 76-77 The 6-foot-2, 185-pound two-way standout delivered on both sides of the ball in Padua’s Regional Semifinal victory. On the mound, Martin was electric, tossing five strong innings while allowing just one run on four hits and two walks. The right-hander struck out 11 of the 15 outs he recorded, showcasing his swing-and-miss arsenal. At the plate, the right-handed hitter produced from the 5-hole, collecting an RBI single, a sacrifice fly, and a walk. The Eagles turned one defensive miscue into a game-changing inning, doing all their damage in the 4th to secure the state title win. State Title Game Story: 🔗👉 📝👆 A four-run 4th inning lifted the Eagles to their 3rd state title in program history, and 2027 RHP aidanwyche88 led the way. The junior tossed a complete game, surrendering just one run on seven hits while walking two and striking out two. In Division III, Region 10 action, #6 University School Baseball took advantage of a handful of Defiance miscues and used a three-run 3rd inning to defeat #14 Defiance Baseball, 4-1, advancing to the Regional Final. 2026 Auburn Baseball commit Deacon Nelson is widely known for what he does at the plate, but it was his arm that stole the show on Thursday. The right-hander kept Defiance off balance throughout four strong innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out two. 2028 RHP Miles Wolf slammed the door over the final two innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit in an impressive relief appearance. 2026 SS/3B James Bucci impacted the game on both sides of the ball for the Preppers. The right-handed hitter finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while also turning in a standout defensive performance. Defiance's top two prospects did everything they could to keep the Bulldogs in it. 2028 C Colt Ward continued to show he's one of the states premier bats, going 3-for-4 with four barrels and a run scored, while 2027 RHP Ike Webb battled through seven innings, allowing four runs, just one earned, and striking out three. In a Division V Regional Final, #10 (D5) LB Eagle Baseball (22-5) punched its 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓-𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 trip to the State Final Four, defeating ACHS Aces Baseball (14-13) by a 6-1 score and outhitting the Aces 10-2. 2028 RHP/C Kooper Leatherman was dominant from start to finish, keeping Amanda-Clearcreek off balance all evening. The talented two-way tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on two hits and three walks while striking out six. The Eagles' offense backed him with 10 hits, led by a trio of multi-hit performances. 2026 OF Reid Irwin paced the attack with three hits, while 2027 OF Connor Barbara and 2028 INF Taden Troyer each collected two hits. For the Aces, 2026 CF/RHP Gary did everything he could to keep his team within striking distance. The two-way standout entered in relief and delivered five strong innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) while striking out four. At the plate, he accounted for Amanda-Clearcreek's biggest swing of the night, finishing 1-for-2 with a home run, walk, RBI, and run scored. LibertyBentonHS now heads to the state tournament for the first time in program history, where it will face Columbus Academy Baseball (16-16) on June 11 at 10 a.m. The opposite side of the Division V bracket features #1 Waynedale Baseball (29-3) and #7 VHS_Baseball (22-6). In Division III, Region 10 action, #3 Padua Bruins Baseball punched its ticket to the Regional Final with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Sylvania Southview Baseball, despite being outhit 7-4. Talented 2028 two-way prospect Chase Martin set the tone on the mound, earning the win after five strong innings. The right-hander allowed just one run on four hits and two walks while piling up 11 strikeouts. 2027 RHP Brandon Tillman took over for the final two innings and secured the save, striking out two while helping the Bruins hold off a late Southview push. Offensively, Padua was led by a pair of standout underclassmen. 2028 Braylon Benson reached base twice, scored two runs, and wreaked havoc on the bases with four stolen bags. 2029 Michael Cangelosi Jr. sparked the offense with an early triple and later scored on a Chase Martin RBI single. For Southview, 2026 RHP Will Colyer kept the Cougars within striking distance all game. The Terra State Baseball commit tossed six innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six. He also contributed offensively, driving in a run at the plate.
