BLUNDER! Two local trains on the same track on Central Railway at #Mumbai CSMT. A Central Railway spokesperson confirmed the incident and said they are investigating the matter. A train coming from Badlapur was taken on PF 5 instead of PF 4 which was occupied by another local. The local trains have been backed and now movement is restarting. The PF 5 to 8 were blocked and movement was stopped from 3.18pm Now the backing is complete and the movement is starting. There was a signal between these two local trains. CSMT Internal Home for Suburban Platforms was in red condition hence the Motorman stopped the train. Also the distance between the two trains was more than 130 meters.

An individual was noticed atop the roof of a Badlapur-Dadar AC local at Kalyan station on CR Mumbai, platform no. 7. Railway authorities immediately alerted the concerned Officials and initiated switching off the Over Head Equipment (OHE) at 2:40pm hrs to eliminate any risk of electrocution. Within minutes, the individual was safely brought down to the platform by 2:50pm. Following the successful rescue and a thorough safety check, the OHE was recharged at 2:52pm. The train continued its journey shortly after, with the entire life-saving operation concluding in just 12 minutes. Western Railway is undertaking a major safety-driven encroachment removal operation at Garib Nagar, Bandra (East), today i.e 19th May 2026, after due legal process extending over several years. The following facts may kindly be noted: 1. The matter is not sudden or arbitrary. Proceedings under the Public Premises Act were initiated before 2017 and eviction orders were passed on 27.11.2017. 2. The issue has undergone extensive judicial scrutiny over nearly nine years, including proceedings before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court and Hon’ble Supreme Court. 3. The latest orders of the Hon’ble Bombay High Court dated 29.04.2026, subsequently upheld in further proceedings as well as before the Hon’ble Supreme Court, have permitted removal of unauthorized encroachments, while protecting identified eligible structures. 4. Western Railway is fully complying with judicial directions. Structures identified for protection through the joint survey process are not being disturbed. 5. The action is being undertaken primarily in the railway safety zone adjacent to active railway tracks, where unauthorized habitation poses serious risks to human life and train operations. 6. This railway area stretch is operationally critical for augmentation of rail capacity in Mumbai. Removal of encroachments is essential for railway safety, operational flexibility and future infrastructure expansion, including additional train services. 7. The proposed works are linked to enhancement of carrying capacity on one of the busiest rail corridors in the country and will facilitate introduction of additional long-distance train services for passengers across India. 8. Railway land cannot remain perpetually encroached, be it anywhere, and more so in safety-sensitive operational areas. At the same time, Railway administration is acting strictly within the framework of law and court directions. 9. The operation is being carried out jointly with civil administration, police authorities and railway security agencies to ensure maintenance of law and order and humane execution of the drive.

This 2.11 minute video shows the real and grave problem affecting CR Mumbai suburban railway. This is Diva Junction station, this afternoon. The level crossing gate here blocks all six lines that means local and NATIONAL lines. This leads to detention of ALL trains on either side of the gate and MASSIVE commuter crowds piling up at all subsequent stations. The road vehicles clearly need to be on a road bridge & not blocking the crucial Mumbai railway like this. And guess what, the road bridge has been built, but the problem are the approaches. Yes. The bridge portion over the railway line is ready, but there is no land for approaches because there are structures, buildings and residents. Residents don't want to move and local landowners have alleged injustice. Was it all not thought before or planned? The Thane Municipal Corporation is now working on this to clear up the mess. Nevertheless, bureaucrats of any standard here have little say in the area since it is a political hotbed of every party. Every decision taken here is a race on political lines. The local public representatives are towering personalities but blinkered by narrow vision. The management at the gate too is poor. This afternoon, the MSF (Maharashtra Security Force) staff had been manning it and when it became unmanageable, RPF (Railway Protection Force) & GRP (Government Railway Police) had to be called (by station announcement) followed by the station staff at the site. The first thing that was done by them was taking pictures probably to prove their presence to the higher ups. The response was not quick but almost idle. It needed to be faster given the stakes (If they understood them.) But its all a mess that needs to be sorted at a different level not with the local cops. They have other priorities. The sad part is that all of this is affecting lakhs of commuters every single day. After the level crossing closed in about 20+ minutes, the first trains that came from both directions were massively crowded with commuters hanging out even in the afternoon non-peak hours. I managed to get in the first train. As it moved ahead to subsequent stations, the crowds got larger & aggressive as they had been waiting for a lonng time. Sadly, they are used to it and manage the lethal commute deftly. Those who can't end up becoming a statistic.
