The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has given notice that they will be going on strike on November 15th. Canada Post has experienced $3 Billion in losses since 2018, but has still offered the union a 11.5% wage increase over the next 4 years. The union wants a 23% raise over the next 4 years, and doesn’t like the Crown Corporation’s plan to expand to evening and weekend parcel deliveries.

One of the promises I made when running for Congress was to sign on to the PRO Act, critical legislation to strengthen worker's rights and their ability to collectively bargain for better pay, better benefits, and safer working conditions. Today, I kept that promise to Delaware workers by becoming an original co-sponsor of the PRO Act this Congress. At a time when the cost of living continues to rise and pay remains too low, it is vital that workers have their voices heard.

Thousands of workers at Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest chip maker and Korea’s biggest company, have launched an indefinite strike. Originally planned as a three-day action, the strike has extended indefinitely after management refused to engage in talks with the workers. So far, over 6,540 members of the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), the largest union at Samsung Electronics, have participated in the strike. The union represents about 30,000 workers, or 24% of all Samsung employees. The union’s demands include a 5.6% basic pay raise for all members, a guaranteed day off on the union’s founding day, and compensation for economic losses due to the strike. Despite Samsung’s claims that the strike has not impacted production, the union reports disruptions on chip lines and that some equipment is running slower.

But after years of bad-faith bargaining and union jobs handed to subcontractors, hotel workers at the Fairfield Inn and Four Points in Times Square voted unanimously to do exactly that. Their fight is for what every worker deserves: fair wages, real benefits, and a contract honored in good faith. Proud to stand with Hotel and Gaming Trades Council. Proud to stand with Labor.
