I just finished speaking on the House floor about Speaker Johnson's recent move to kill our bipartisan push to allow new parents to vote remotely. This move is anti-women, anti-parent, and anti-family. Our country has changed. And so have our workplaces. But Congress is stuck doing things the way we did them centuries ago. While Republican Leadership might be out of touch on this issue, I’m deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and young women and moms across the nation. I want to thank Rep. Anna Paulina Luna for being a champion as well as Congresswoman Sara Jacobs and Congressman Mike Lawler for all of their work on this. Our fight is far from over.

Today, my son Sam and I showed Speaker Johnson why you don't mess with moms. Thanks to overwhelming bipartisan support, we stopped the Speaker’s attempt to kill our resolution to allow new parents in Congress to vote remotely. This is a major step forward in our fight to remove barriers that make it difficult for new parents to serve in Congress, and I’m incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made. Thank you to everyone who stood with us today.

I’m back in DC with Sam to demand that Speaker Johnson hold a vote on our bipartisan resolution to allow new moms and dads to vote remotely while caring for their newborns. Speaker Johnson himself has voted remotely 39 times—but now he’s pulling every trick in the book to stop our resolution. New parents shouldn’t be blocked from doing their jobs just because they’re starting a family. We’re going to keep fighting until we get this done.

I have a message for Donald Trump: nobody fights harder than a mom. Republican leadership may have denied my ability to vote by proxy but that didn’t stop us from voting against this disastrous budget that strips away health care and food for seniors, veterans, kids and families across Colorado — all to give tax breaks to billionaires like Elon Musk. I’ll never back down when it comes to our kids.

I’m on a waitlist for child care until this summer for my 3 month old — and I'm one of the lucky ones. Far too many people live in child care deserts and can’t afford the rising costs of care which oftentimes is more expensive than college tuition. Trump's so-called "baby bonus" is a slap in the face to women. It won’t address the barriers so many people face to starting a family, and he is only making things worse. Thank you, Jen Psaki, for having me on this morning to discuss policies that would actually support women and working families.

Republicans voted this week to hand ICE and CBP an additional $70 billion — and still refused to guarantee even the most basic standards of humane treatment for the people in their custody. No child, no senior, no one should be forced to spend days in a cramped holding cell that was designed for only a few hours of temporary processing. That's why I'm introducing legislation to ban extended long-term detention in these facilities. If we fail to uphold that basic dignity and decency, then we have lost ourselves as a country.

I’m stunned that Speaker Johnson has gone to such great lengths to stop new parents from being able to vote and represent their constituents after welcoming a child. He was even willing to shut down the House after we defeated his attempt to kill our resolution. It’s time we bring the Congress out of the dark ages and address the workplace challenges of today. We need more moms and young families represented in Washington and a large majority of my colleagues agree that it’s time to change the way we do things. Speaker Mike Johnson, LET US VOTE.

Rent is going up. Homeownership is out of reach. And Colorado is short 100,000 homes for the people who live here. This week, the House passed bipartisan legislation I worked on to build more housing and bring down costs for all of us. Passing this major housing package is a small glimmer of hope for me that, even in the chaos & dysfunction, we can find common ground on the issues that matter most. Thanks Rep. Mark Alford for making an appearance & partnering on this critical legislation!

If Trump gets his way and guts funding for naloxone, our first responders are going to be left empty-handed in life or death situations. So many people will never get the chance to live in recovery and rebuild their lives like my mom did. Thank you to Jake Tapper 🦅 for having me join and share my story.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that Congress is working well. Part of the reason is that the people there don’t reflect the life experiences of the American people. We need people in Congress who understand the struggles so many families are facing, and we need to address the barriers that regular people face when serving. That's why it’s so important to make it easier for women and families to have a voice in Washington.

I just signed a discharge petition, which would force a vote on legislation to pay our TSA agents, our Coast Guard, & FEMA workers. Our federal workers shouldn’t be held hostage because Republicans won’t come to the table to rein in ICE’s lawless operations.

9,000 seniors and families in Colorado are being denied access to lifesaving food benefits because of Donald Trump. But it's not just his cuts in the Farm Bill. It's not just his cuts to SNAP. It's everything — all at once— a death by a thousand cuts as Trump completely dismantles the services that people depend on to get by.

The Senate's so-called “deal” does nothing to address the Republican health care crisis and the skyrocketing costs that families are facing now. Premiums are doubling and even tripling across my district, and up to 75,000 Coloradans are expected to be priced out of coverage. This means families who are already struggling to make ends meet will be left without the critical care they need. But this fight is far from over.

Republicans created this health care crisis and they’re doing nothing but perpetuating it. And there is a very real human cost – people will go without health insurance, some will go without life-saving care altogether, and the cost of health care will go up for every one of us. Donald Trump and Republicans refused to come to the table and negotiate with us, and our families will pay the price.

Our president is utterly unhinged and putting the lives of our troops and our national security at risk.

Our federal workers have been demonized since Trump took office and they are now being forced to work without pay, furloughed or even fired. That’s why Sam and I stopped by yesterday to thank some of our local federal employees for their service and delivered donuts and coffee to start their day. But they deserve much more than pastries. They deserve a functioning government where they can continue to do their critical work to support us and keep us safe. Thank you for continuing to serve our country. We need you more than ever.

I joined Morning Joe this morning to talk about our bipartisan effort to stop Speaker Johnson from killing our resolution to allow new parents in Congress to vote remotely. I’m proud of my colleagues for standing with us against this unprecedented attempt to silence our voices. But we know this won’t be the last roadblock—Speaker Johnson already canceled the rest of the week’s votes to prepare for the next round. Our message is simple: Let us vote.

Sam and I just wrapped up a busy week here in DC. We voted against Donald Trump and Republicans’ budget proposal to strip health care away from over a million Coloradans who depend on Health First Colorado. I voted NO. We’re going to keep showing up and fighting back.
