I built a native Metal renderer for Minecraft, and a shader that takes advantage of it: volumetric fog, dynamic lighting, water reflections and more. It runs at 60fps at full retina resolution on a 5-year-old MacBook. I've always hated how laggy minecraft is with shaders, now it's solved. Shoutout to Opus and Astra!

It's out! Ciderlight is a Metal-based Minecraft renderer + shader for Mac. On my M1 Pro, It runs 60+ FPS on High setting, and 100+ FPS on Low (which still looks great) It's fully open source. Here's a short trailer. Download: GitHub:
