A HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT VISIT TO SLOVAKIA The President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, today paid a visit to the Slovak Republic, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior representatives of the executive branch and the Presidential Court. I held several hours of friendly and substantive working talks with His Highness, building on my official visit to the United Arab Emirates in October last year. We agreed on concrete cooperation regarding a major infrastructure project on the Danube River in Bratislava, and we will continue to advance the projects already initiated in the field of the defence industry. Our discussions also covered a public-private partnership (PPP) project in Slovak agriculture focused on irrigation, as well as the potential entry of an investor from the United Arab Emirates into Slovakia's state-controlled spa sector. Among other topics, we asked His Highness to support the establishment of a direct air connection between Bratislava and either Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The visit of such a prominent global leader to Slovakia is yet another confirmation of the soundness of our sovereign foreign policy, which is open to cooperation with partners in all directions. We also took the opportunity to exchange valuable views on the current security situation in the Middle East and in Ukraine. On a personal note, I would like to add that this meeting further strengthened our friendly relations. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan once again demonstrated that he is an exceptionally pragmatic, rational, and visionary leader. In this context, I expressed my appreciation for his significant contribution to safeguarding stability in the Middle East through his leadership. The President of the United Arab Emirates is among those world leaders who firmly place peace before war.

PHONE CALL WITH GERMAN FEDERAL CHANCELLOR F. MERZ AFTER THE MEETING WITH THE U.S. PRESIDENT Dear friends, just a few minutes ago I finished a phone call with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz regarding the serious international situation. Above all, I briefed him on my lengthy discussion with U.S. President D. Trump and his Secretary of State M. Rubio, which took place on Saturday evening in Florida. The President of the United States is clearly pursuing the nation state interests of the U.S. If the EU acted in the same way, we would be in a completely different position than we are now. World leaders do not take the EU fully seriously, and this can be attributed to our nonsensical climate targets and our suicidal migration policy. In this spirit, I will send an open letter to the President of the European Commission tomorrow and inform all prime ministers and heads of EU member states. I proposed several solutions to the Federal Chancellor and hope that he will soon visit Slovakia, as he promised. We have much to discuss. Several hundred German companies operate in Slovakia, and our economy given the enormous concentration of car manufacturing is particularly dependent on Germany’s economic development. Only charlatans like the younger Šimečka can claim that our economy is dragging down the entire European policy.

STATEMENT OF THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC 🇸🇰 I have fulfilled what I declared on Saturday: “If oil supplies to Slovakia are not restored by Monday, I will ask SEPS, the state-owned joint-stock company, to halt emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine. In January 2026 alone, these emergency deliveries needed to stabilize the Ukrainian energy grid were twice as high as for the entire year 2025.”

REACTION OF THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC, ROBERT FICO, TO THE BLACKMAILING BEHAVIOR OF UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT ZELENSKYY I express full solidarity with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Orbán Viktor. If the Ukrainian president continues like this, it may happen that other EU member states will also block the 90-billion loan for Ukraine. And I officially ask all the highest representatives of the European Union and I will be very specific: 👉🏻 the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen 👉🏻 the President of the European Council, António Costa 👉🏻 and also the so-called EU foreign affairs chief, Kaja Kallas ☝🏻 to distance themselves from these outrageous blackmailing statements of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

SLOVAKIA IS NOT A LITTLE SCHOOLCHILD THAT NEEDS TO BE LECTURED Slovakia’s sovereign positions do not stem from vanity, but are based on our national interests. The politics of a single mandatory opinion is a denial of sovereignty and democracy. When you hear such aggressive remarks, it feels like we are not heading into good times. The words of the German Chancellor are absolutely unacceptable in modern Europe. If we don’t obey, are we to be punished? This is not the path toward cohesion and cooperation. I believe we will clarify this, because such a style of communication is counterproductive.
